Screening in Arlee
A preschool screening clinic for children up to the age of five will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 16 in the Arlee Headstart. Please call to schedule an appointment for your child’s screening or to receive more information at 726-3273.
This free screening includes gross motor, fine motor, language concepts, communication skills, communication concepts, hearing and vision screening.
Buckle-up Montana
Buckle Up Montana will have technicians available to provide onsite child safety seat inspections and education from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 16 at the Polson Fire Department. Installation will be reviewed for each child safety seat. Drop-ins are welcome. Please call in advance. If you have questions about resources for car seats or boosters@ 883-7373, ask for Diane.

Barn dance
Everyone is invited to the Fourth Annual Barn Dance in Big Arm! We will have a scrumptious dinner, the fabulous Southern Comfort band, silent auction, raffles and great company.
The event starts at 6 p.m. on Sept. 19 and is held in a barn near mile marker 71 1/2 on Highway 93, just follow the signs. The proceeds from the evening will help us to continue the restoration work to turn the old schoolhouse into a vibrant community center and local museum for all to enjoy. Constituion day
Come join us on this Constitution Day, Sept. 17 at “The Miracle of America.” At 6:30 p.m. there will be a brief tour of the museum’s Constitutional Exhibits followed by a DVD talk by Constitutional scholar Stephen Pratt. After the DVD showing, there will be refreshments and discussion. For more information, call the museum at 883-6804.
Book reception
From 5 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 17, there will be a champagne reception for Claudia Cunningham at Page by Page Books as she just released her first book.

MVAC meeting
The Mission Valley Astronomy Club invites the public to observe the moon at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 18 at 42810 Roullier Rd. in Ronan. This will also be a time to see the small fragment of moon rock the MVAC has received from NASA. For more information, call 675-4350 or 745-4904. In case of rain clouds, the event will be held on Sept. 25.

Special services
Rev. Hal Perkins, of “Heartwalk Ministries,” will be preaching and teaching about knowing and following Jesus at the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. services on Sept. 19 and at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. There will be a free barbecue dinner at noon on Sunday after the 11 a.m. service at the Pablo Church of the Nazarene.

RCIA process
Rite of Christian initiation of Adults is a process for those interested in the possibility of becoming a member of the Catholic Christian Community. The inquiry phase of this process will begin from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 19 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.

Native American Days
The People’s Center will be hosting the annual Native American Awareness Days September 21-23 at the center in Pablo. Classes will begin at 9:15 a.m. and rotate every thirty minutes, ending the days at 2:30 p.m. Participation in this event requires pre-registration. We will be having Salish & Kootenai language presentations, dry meat & fry bread tasting, traditional hide tanning demonstrating, native games, crafts, history presentations and museum tours. Space is limited so call 675-0160 to register your school or class or group.
St. Joseph open house
Ronan will host an event celebrating the addition of orthopedics and two new family doctors in addition to the newly remodeled 2,500 square foot facility.
