Boy Scout sign up

Sign ups for Boy Scouts will be on Sept. 23 in the Linderman cafeteria. There will be a short parents meeting at 5 p.m. as well.

Community dinner

The Fellowship Baptist Church would like to invite the community to a free community dinner from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 23. We will be serving a variety of homemade casseroles, assorted salads and desserts. Please join us at Fellowship Baptist Church located on the corner of 7th Ave East and Main Street in Polson.

Sept. 24

Screenings

Free screenings will be conducted from noon to 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 24 at the Ronan Middle School. The bi-annual free child screenings will check children, ages birth to five-years-old, for delays in speech, language, motor skills and social or basic school readiness skills.

Dixon dance

The first dance of the fall season will be held at 6 p.m. on Sept. 24 at the Dixon Senior Center. Come enjoy some great, usually familiar, music from past decades for dancing and easy listening. Refreshments will be served. Make your appointments by calling Janet at 676-3390 ext. 3450.

Lake County

Pachyderm Club

Bill Gallagher, candidate for the Public Service Commission, will be the guest speaker at the Sept. 24 meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club.

The Lake County Pachyderm Club will meet in the Community Room of the Polson City Library; social time begins at 11:30 a.m., the meeting begins at noon and adjourns at 1 p.m. Every one is encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch.

Saturday, Sept. 25

Skate Ignatius grand opening

The Skate Ignatius Project will be having a Grand Opening of the Skate Ignatius Skate Park from noon to 5 p.m. on Sept. 25 to celebrate the completion of their project, located in Taelman Park. Chris Bacon and his crew from Edge of the World in Missoula will be running a skate contest with product give-aways, raffles and more! There will be free hot dogs and soda. The Mission girls' volleyball team will be on hand to take on all comers for volleyball games throughout the day.

This party is to thank everyone for all their support and to give everyone a chance to come see the park and meet the kids whose lives they have helped save by giving them a healthy recreational outlet and alternative to drugs and alcohol. Passenger safety week

As part of Child Passenger Safety Week Sept. 19-25, Buckle Up Montana, Lake County Coalition and Safe On All Roads will be partnering with The Montana Department of Transportation, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to commemorate Child Passenger Safety Week. During National Child Passenger Safety week, BUM/SOAR will be educating parents and caregivers about safety when using child safety seats, especially booster seats from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sept. 25 at Polson Wal-Mart.

Lake County has received a number of free booster seats to be given to low income families on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents and caregivers are invited to attend the car seat check-up event and take advantage of free safety seat inspections by certified child passenger safety technicians.

Red Poppy show

On Sept. 26, The Red Poppy is proud to welcome the art of Juanita Small Salmon, whose work will be in the gallery throughout the month of October. At 2 p.m., Leilani Brown from St. Ignatius will present a program of Celtic songs. A reception for the community will follow the performance.

Monday, Sept. 27

Community concert

Jack Gladstone will be performing from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the Arlee High School new gym. He is a Native folk singer and lecturer from the Blackfeet Nation in Montana and is regarded as a cultural bridge builder.

The family of Louis Charlo will be honored. Charlo served in the United States Marine Corps and was one of the soldiers that raised the first flag at Iwo Jima.

Wednesday, Sept. 29

Post secondary fair

High school juniors and seniors from Polson, Ronan, Charlo and Two Eagle River School, along with their parents are encouraged to attend Polson's post secondary Fair from 10 to 11: 30 a.m. on Sept. 29 in the Polson High School Gymnasium.

NCAA presentation

Jean Gee, Associate Athletic Director for the University of Montana, will be giving a presentation on the NCAA rules and regulations for student athletes at 7 p.m. on Sept. 29 in the Polson High School auditorium. 

Parents and student athletes are welcome to attend.  The presentation will concentrate on the initial eligibility process and how the clearing house process works. For more information please call Scott Wilson at 883-6350 ext. 229.

Constitution overview

Brushfires of Freedom is hosting a two hour overview of the United States Constitution.

Please join us for a special presentation at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the Garden of the Rockies Museum meeting room, located at 400 Round Butte Road West, in Ronan.

Robert Brown will educate us with material designed to help us gain confidence in our knowledge of our Constitution, and to give us a better understanding of how it is being undermined so we have the knowledge and tools necessary to protect it.
