place.

MISSOULA - How do you win a track meet? Ask the Charlo girls track team after they trounced the competition at the Jim Johnson Invitational on Wednesday, April 13, with 121 points to take first place.

Charlo had six first places and 17 placings total, led by Aspen Runkel, who placed first in the 400 (63.64), 100-meter hurdles (17.04) and second in the 300 hurdles (52.17).

Deondra Brown anchored the sprints for the Lady Vikings, taking sixth in the 100 (13.78) and second in the 200 (28.68). Jordan Ludeman placed first in the 800 (2:41.76) and second in the pole vault (7-6).

Dawn Blevins took first in the Javelin (104-3) and second in the 1,600 (6:43.00). Rachel Hoyt was first in the 300 hurdles (52.08) and third in the high jump (4-8).

The Lady Vikings also swept the relay races, placing first in the 400 (53.22) and 1,600-meter relay (4:32.04).

The boys also had plenty to be proud of, placing fourth behind plenty of top finishers by their athletes.

Senior Chance Rosenbaum finished first in the pole vault (12-0), third in the 800 (2:10.88) and fourth in the high jump (5-6). Fellow senior Austin Bauer held down the speed events placing third in the 100 (11.66), fifth in the 200 (24.56) and fifth in the long jump.

Charlo also won the 400-meter relay (44.52) and placed third in the 1,600-meter relay (3:54.81). Then at the Missoula County Public Schools Invitational, Charlo showed it's not afraid to rough up the bigger schools as the boys saw five placings and the girls had two.

Junior Stephen Delaney continued his excellence on the hurdles, placing third in the 110-meter hurdles (15.55) and second in the 300 hurdles (40.89). Teammate Tra Ludeman placed seventh (44.03). Chance Rosenbaum also placed seventh in the pole vault (12-0).

The 400-meter relay team matched up well and placed fourth (45.52) For the girls, Aspen Runkel took fourth in the 400 (63.78) and Dawn Blevins took third in the javelin (114-8).
