TIGER project moving along
POLSON — “TIGER CAMP” is now fully stocked with the numerous components necessary for a major infrastructure project. Sewer pipes, vaults, water mains and heavy equipment are among the items now in staging at the project control site adjacent to St. Joe’s Hospital.
The removal of a major portion of paving along 1st Street East combined with the arid dog days of summer has created quite a dust problem as traffic continues to use the now very much dismantled roadway. Construction supervisors have ordered an upgraded dust abatement program which includes additional water spray combined with Mag-Chloride treatment in areas producing the greater levels of particulate.
The construction by-pass bridge is in place and for the next several weeks will be used by authorized for construction traffic only. The new permanent bridge, to be installed this fall, will be a pre-cast concrete box culvert similar to the type installed on the Hwy. 93 project near Safeway. The general public utilizing 9th and/or 11th streets to access 1st Street East should be aware that construction of the storm drain will be starting within the next two weeks and access to 1st Street East may be temporarily closed to traffic. Also, as work proceeds on the water service lines, there may be intermittent water shut downs to residential areas. The city is working hard to notify customers in the affected areas prior to such shut-downs.
An updated traffic chart is available for viewing on the Lake County website’s TIGER page at: http://www.lakecounty-mt.org/tiger/rightnow.htm. For further information or questions regarding this announcement, call Billie Lee at 676-5901 x 103 or Roland Godan 676-5901 x116.
