TIGER Project update

Drivers taking the Skyline Drive route into or out of Polson should be prepared to pause and enjoy the view this week, as week four of the TIGER / Skyline Drive project brings new obstacles to town.

Here is a map of the latest construction detour around the work taking place between 8th and 11th Avenues along 1st Street East.

The removal of a major portion of paving along 1st. St. E. combined with the arid dog days of summer has created quite a dust problem as traffic continues to use the now very much dismantled roadway. Construction supervisors have ordered an upgraded dust abatement program which includes additional water spray combined with Mag-Chloride treatment in areas producing the greater levels of particulate.

The construction by-pass bridge is in place and for the next several weeks will be used by authorized construction traffic only. After the old bridge is removed and the bypass bridge is upgraded to general traffic standards will it be opened to public use. The new permanent bridge, to be installed this fall, will be a pre-cast concrete box culvert similar to the type installed on the HWY 93 project near Safeway.

An updated traffic chart is available for viewing on the Lake County website’s TIGER page at: http://www.lakecounty-mt.org/tiger/rightnow.htm
