BASKETBALL: Tip-off Tournament Round-up

The Polson girls improved to 2-0 on the season with a win in the

second day of the Tip-off Tournament. Here's an update on how the

Lady Pirates and the rest of the Mission Valley teams did on

Saturday...

Here is an update of how Lake County teams did on the second day of the Tip-off Tournament.

BIGFORK 66, RONAN BOYS 37

Without five of their seniors due to the ACTs, Ronan dropped their second game of the season to Bigfork 66-37 on Saturday in Whitefish.

Bigfork used an 18-9 run in the second quarter to take a commanding lead and held the Chiefs to six points in the third quarter. Ronan was led by Brady Oakland with 8 points.

Bigfork - 14 - 18 - 16 - 18 - 66

RONAN - Carston Baertsch 4, Dallas Jore 4, Timmy Woll 5, Robert Faoa 6, Brady Oakland 8, Jalen Bell 4, Zach Wagner 6.

DILLON 53, POLSON BOYS 42

Missing starters because of the ACTs, the short-handed Pirates battled Dillon in the first half but fell behind in the second en route to a 53-42 loss to Dillon on Saturday in Whitefish.

Foul trouble hampered the Pirates, who got 13 points from Will Davey and 11 from Zach Camel. Polson had the 17-11 lead after the first quarter but Dillon used 16-9 second quarter to take the 27-26 lead into halftime. Last year's runner up at the state tournament scored 26 points in the second half to outpace Polson.

POLSON GIRLS 49, DILLON 36

Polson's press was smothering as they held Dillon to four points in the fourth quarter and improved to 2-0 on the season with a 49-36 victory over Dillon on Saturday in Columbia Falls.

Riley Kenney led the team with 22 points and Heidi Rausch added 11 as the Lady Pirates came back from a 24-22 deficit at halftime.

Dillon - 9 - 15 - 13 - 4 - 36

BIGFORK 31, RONAN GIRLS 16

The Maidens scored two points in the first and fourth quarters and that hampered them in a 31-16 loss to Bigfork on Saturday in Columbia Falls.

Ashleigh Lynch led the team with seven points.
