Ronan sing-a-thon

The annual Sing-a-thon, put on by the Ronan High School Show Choir, will take place Thursday, Dec. 29 from 8:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. in the Black Box Room at Ronan Middle School. The 12-hour rehearsal where students learn the choreography for their tour and Cabaret in the spring is capped off by a 6:45 p.m. performance where students demonstrate what they learned that day.

Community dinner

There will be a free community dinner on Friday, Dec. 30 at the Polson Community Church, 1814 1st St. East. Dinner and dessert will be served from 5-7 p.m. Bring a friend, everyone is invited!

Judges needed

Ronan High School is hosting a speech, drama and debate tournament on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012. We will need a tremendous number of judges to fill approximately 350 judging slots. We are requesting your help for a single event, several events or the full day. Any of your time would be greatly appreciated. For those anxious about judging for the first time, a judging clinic will be held on Thursday, Jan 12 at 5:30 p.m. at Ronan High School. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on the day of the tournament.

Judges needed

The Polson High School Speech and Drama team is hosting the Montana Class A Speech and Drama Meet on Friday, Jan. 27 and Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012. Over 400 students from across Montana will compete at Polson High School, Polson Middle School and Linderman Elementary School. There will be 2,000 speeches, debates and drama skits performed during the meet.

Please join your friends in the community by volunteering to judge. No special training or education is needed, but judge training sessions will be offered at the Polson High School library at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24 and Wednesday, Jan. 25. You can commit to judge just one round or as many rounds as you wish over the two-day event. You may specify the type of event you prefer to judge: speech, drama and/or debate. Rounds last approximately 1.5 hours and are scheduled. Food for fines

Do you have fines at the Ronan City Library? Help those in need and pay of your fines by bringing a food donation that will go to the Bread Basket. Your fines will be forgiven. Does not apply to fines related to Lost or Damaged Items. Food donations cannot be expired.

Holiday display

Bring your family and friends to our special holiday exhibit.  Miniature rooms and dollhouses created and collected by Toni and Louise Hier are on display Dec. 1 through Jan. 1 at Page by Page Books at 220 Main Street, Polson.

Square dancing

Want to learn how to square dance? The Polson Paddle Wheelers square dance lessons will start: Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Polson Senior Citizen Center, 504 3rd Ave. E, Polson. More info call 676-3380 or 676-2222.

Oriental dancing

Need some fun and exercise through the winter? The Ladies of the Lake Oriental Dancers Club may be just what you’re looking for. Classes are available Mon., Wed. and Fri. from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. No experience is necessary. We start with stretching and strengthening exercises and then begin basic belly dance steps and dances. Kids classes

Classes have begun for American Indian Drumming/Singing at Arlee’s new cafeteria. Classes run Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:15-8:15 p.m. and are instructed by Walden Tewawina.
