SKC WOMEN ROUNDUP: Battling Western
PABLO - The SKC Lady Bison continued to work hard going into
Christmas Break, playing two games against Montana-Western's JV

While they dropped the first 74-57, the second went straight
down to the wire with Western getting a last-second bucket to win
69-67.
"I think we're getting there," head coach Juan Perez said of his

PABLO - The SKC Lady Bison continued to work hard going into Christmas Break, playing two games against Montana-Western's JV team last weekend.
While they dropped the first 74-57, the second went straight down to the wire with Western getting a last-second bucket to win 69-67.
"I think we're getting there," head coach Juan Perez said of his team's progress. "I'm pretty pleased overall with our performance."
SKC split with Great Falls' JV team two weekends ago and put in much closer games against Montana-Western, a team they had played earlier in the season.
In their first game on Saturday, SKC's first half put them in trouble against Montana-Western and they found themselves down 46-17 at halftime.
Keyed by 11 points in the second half by Sharna Frazier, who ended the game with a team-high 19 points, the Lady Bison scored 40 second-half points and closed the gap against the Lady Dawgs.
Shaylene Piedalue added 14 and Eva Green had 10 for SKC. However, Western still went away with the victory.
Perez said that turnovers hurt the Lady Bison in the first game but that was something they were able to remedy in the second.
After Montana-Western jumped to the early lead, the Lady Bison battled back and went into halftime with a 37-30 lead.
"In the beginning, we kind of let them dictate the tempo," Perez said. "Once we got that under control, it kind of went our way."
In the second half, the Lady Bison pushed their lead to 41-32 with 16 minutes left in the game.
However, Montana-Western tied things up 49-49 with 12 minutes to go.
Both teams battled closely to the end and with just a few seconds left on the clock and the score at 67-67, Montana-Western nailed a shot for the win.
Chantel Jenkins was the leading scorer for the Lady Bison, notching 15 points. Frazier added 13 and Eva Green had 10.
"Chantel has been the spark plug for the team," Perez said. "She's done a good job leading on the court."
Perez has liked the play he's seen from Green, and the leadership she's brought to the court.
Frazier has also contributed with her scoring, rebounding and passes.
"All the girls have been doing their part and they've been going good," Perez said.
While the Lady Bison will take two weeks off for Christmas, they've already made good steps from day one in preparation for the end-of-season AIHEC National Championship Tournament.
"I look to see us get stronger and quicker from day one," Perez said.
After the break, the Lady Bison will be doing a lot more fine-tuning in the second half of the season.
"I look to where we're at and make adjustments on our weaknesses," Perez said.
SKC will be back on Jan. 6-7 to play Sheridan College.
