ST. IGNATIUS - Facing one of the most extreme styles of

basketball in the state, the Mission Lady Bulldogs put forth

arguably their best effort of the season before succumbing at home

to Florence 53-49 on Tuesday, Dec. 20.

Florence, a team who loves to press and force the issue on

defense, could never pull away from the scrappy Lady Bulldogs.

Mission trailed 16-10 after the first and 30-19 at halftime, but

was far from out of the game despite the double-digit deficit.

The Lady Bulldogs got one point back after outscoring Florence 15-14 in the third period and kept chipping away in the fourth, scoring 15 of the stanza's 24 points, but it wasn't quite enough as Mission fell to 0-5 on the season.

Stephanie Lewandowski and Bryanna Steele led the scoring charge with 10 points apiece, while Katrina Stevens added seven. Loren Erickson and Cecelia Koskela each scored six and both Sophie Woodcock and Donilyn Rossbach put in five in the defeat.

Mission will look to get their first win of the season after the break when they take on Bigfork at home on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
