Polar Bear Plunge

The Polar Bear Plunge will take place on New Year’s Day at 1 p.m. at Riverside Park. All are welcome!

Audubon field trip

Flathead Audubon’s first field trip of 2012 will be a “Winter Wander in the Mission Valley” on Sunday, Jan. 8. Participants will spend most of a day exploring the byways of the beautiful Mission Valley in search of wintering migrants and year-round denizens. In years past, Snow Buntings, a variety of hawks, several owl species, a falcon or two and even a chilly American Robin have been found. And, there is always a surprise or two. Meet at 8 a.m. at the Park ‘n’ Ride at the intersection of US Highway 93 and MT Highway 82 near Somers. Bring binoculars or scope, a lunch and winter weather gear. Please contact trip leader Leslie Kehoe evenings at 837-4467 to sign up for the trip. The trip is free and all are welcome.

Valley View potluck

The monthly Valley View potluck will be on Sunday, Jan. 8 at 5 p.m at the Valley View Clubhouse, 40672 V.V. Rd. Bring your favorite potluck dish to share and come enjoy good food and company.

Thyme for Herbs

“Using Herbs in Our Everyday Lives” will be the topic of the next gathering of the “Thyme for Herbs” group, which will meet Tuesday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. at the North Lake County Public Library (formerly Polson Public Library) in Meeting Room 2 First Avenue East (use the east side door). Anyone interested in learning about herbs is encouraged to join us. Each month we will be meeting to learn how herbs can improve our health and enrich our lives. Bring your experiences and your questions to share with us.
