CHARLO — The Tribal Wildlife Management Program reports that a two year- old grizzly bear was found dead in the Charlo area on June 29. Tribal bear biologists were conducting a  routine telemetry flight when they discovered the bear's radio collar on mortality mode.

The case is under investigation by the US Fish and Wildife Service", said Stacy Courville, Tribal Bear Biologist.

Tribal Bear Biologists were actively attempting to recapture this bear and another bear for killing chickens in unprotected chicken coops.

"This is the third grizzly bear poultry related mortality on the Reservation this year.  These bears were attracted to unprotected chicken coops", said Courville.
