Senior news
Ronan
Did you notice the fresh snow in the Missions last week? I guess that it shouldn’t have been much of a surprise, especially considering the way the weather has been this winter and spring.
Francis McGeaughay came in and gave us some information on the farmer’s market and the “farm to table” project that he and his son are involved in. The farmer’s market is held in Ronan on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 in the afternoon. They are located near the Visitors Center on Hwy. 93, and are a great place to buy locally grown fresh fruits and vegies.
Our monthly board meeting will be on Monday, the 6 at 10 a.m. If you are a board member or an alternate, please plan on attending this meeting.
The veterans rep will be here on Thursday, June 9, from 1 until 3 in the afternoon. That is also the day of our evening meal, and we will be serving roast pork from 5 to 6:30 p.m. It is open to the public, so bring some friends and join us.
The pinochle players will meet here at the Ronan Center on Monday, June 20 at 7 p.m. If you like to play pinochle and don’t have anyone to join you in a game, this is a good time for you to join them.
The foot clinic will be here at the Center from 10:30 until noon on Wednesday, June 22. You don’t need an appointment for this, but the earlier you come in, the earlier you get done. It’s also a great time to just sit and
visit with others.
Our menu for the following week is: Wednesday (1st) is sausage and sauerkraut, Friday (3rd) is chicken, Monday (6th) is meatloaf, Wednesday (8th) is spaghetti, Thursday (9th) is pork roast at 5 p.m., and Friday (10th) is chicken a la king. Come on in and join us for some great food and fellowship. We would love to see you.
Have a great week, and remember that summer is almost here.

What happen to the spring weather that we are suppose to have in May? It’s bad when you have to wear your winter coat to go out to pick up the mail. Everyone think sunshine.
If any of you gardeners out there would like to help the Senior Nutrition Program here at the center, you can plant an extra cucumber, tomatoe or even a few carrots. We would accept any garden goodies from you. The price of food has increased so much that your help would be greatly appreciated.
There will be an AARP Driving Course her at the center on June 21 starting at 9 a.m. If you are interested in signing up please give us a call at 883-4735 and we’ll get you on the list.
Now, for some card scores. Bridge scores for May 24 had Bob Gorsuch first and Ruth Baer was second. The pinochle winners for May 26 were Gerry Crusch first and Alice Johnson second. It’s been a long time since these ladies were winners. Good job girls.
Luncheon menu is as follows: Thursday (6/2) baked chicken; Friday (6/3) hot beef sandwich; Monday (6/6) cheeseburgers; Tuesday (6/7) pork chops; Wednesday (6/8) chicken fried steak.

I hope you all had an enjoyable day off and did something fun. (Unless you’re retired and get no days off). It was too wet to do much in the garden, but maybe we can catch up with the growing season soon.
This Saturday, June 4, from 5-7 p.m., the Dixon Senior Center will have their second fish fry fundraiser. Please come, enjoy the happy eaters and some delicious local fish. We will play bingo following dinner. My computer weather is predicting sunshine for that time!
Our best wishes for a speedy recovery for Joyce Siers as she recoups from shoulder surgery. She is a very active member in our center and she is missed.
