Clarence George Rotering

| June 16, 2011 7:30 AM

During the beekeeping years of his life, Clarence G. Rotering believed and received Jesus’ offer of forgiveness of sins and life eternal. On June 1, he went to his eternal reward in Heaven. He died at the age of 75 after suffering a stroke on Monday, May 30 in Helena.

Clarence was born in Rhame, N.D., the eldest child of Hilma Olida (Tollefsrud) Rotering and George Henry Rotering. He grew and worked on the farm and went to school in Adelaide, Miles City, and Missoula and graduated from Great Falls Central High School. He served as a United States Marine, where he trained and worked in motor transport. After his honorable discharge, Clarence worked as a beekeeper in Arlee, an equipment operator at the sugar beet factory in DeSmet, and as a papermaker at the pulp mill in Frenchtown, from which he retired after 31 years of faithful service. Clarence was an avid reader, a competitive shooter and an informed citizen, not to mention a precious and true friend. Semper Fi.

His brothers, Dennis (Virginia) Rotering of Hamilton and Ervin Rotering of Helena, his sister, Florence (Doug) Armstrong-Vaughn of Reno, Nev., and Diane Rotering, his wife of 32 years, survive him, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, greats and great-greats.

Scott Koljanen will perform “Peace Like a River,” a musical tribute to Mr. Rotering on Friday, June 17, 7 p.m. at Calvary Community Church; 2023 Higgins Ave. S., Missoula. Light refreshments will be served.

According to Mr. Rotering’s wishes, interment has already taken place. A memorial service in his honor will be held at the Arlee Alliance Church on Saturday, June 18 at noon, followed by a potluck meal.
