I still haven’t heard from the Veterans Aide yet. I have a call into them and was hoping to hear from them in time to put the information in this newsletter. So when I do hear something I’ll let you all know the best I can.

Now, for some card scores. Bridge scores for Feb. 18 were Max Neeley first and Donna Cason second and Feb. 22 had Win Baer first and Doris Gorsuch second. The Pinochle winners for Feb. 24 were first Dwight Graham and Dee Adams second.
Lunch this week: Thursday (3/3) hamburger steak; Friday (3/4) Navy bean and ham soup; Monday (3/7) spaghetti; Tuesday (3/8) chicken pot pie; Wednesday (3/9) baked ham.
Arlee
The Arlee Senior Center will have a “White Elephant Game” fundraiser at the center at the 6 p.m. meal on Saturday, March 12. Everyone is asked to bring a gift he or she received but doesn’t want and participate in a gift-exchange game. It will be a good occasion to “wear your green” in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, have a good meal and some fun, too.
In other board news, the board has moved its monthly meetings to the third Monday of the month from the second Monday. The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 21 at 11 a.m. in the center. Commodities will be distributed to those who have been approved by the Council on Aging on Wednesday, March 16 at the center from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Spring will be upon us in a few short weeks so get outside, enjoy the change of weather and a good meal at the Arlee Senior Center.
The menu for the following week is as follows: Friday, sloppy Joes, pasta salad, vegetable tray, fruit, brownies; Monday, BBQ chicken, baked potato, carrots, bread, fruit, birthday cake and ice cream; Wednesday, Salisbury steak, potatoes and gravy, Harvard beets, buns, banana pudding.
Thank you to everyone who bought and took home yummy treats at our Valentine’s Day baked goods and candy sale at The Biscuit. It was a great success for the seniors!
Enough of this snow and cold weather. We are all looking forward to spring sunshine, 5K walks, gardening and fishing!
St. Ignatius
Everyone can have a sweet treat along with lunch on Fat (Phat) Tuesday, March 8, in the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center.
Patty Krantz is making some of her famous fudge for the event. AARP volunteer Kay Stamm is still giving free tax filing assistance to St. Ignatius senior citizens on alternate Tuesdays in March. Stamm will be in the St. Ignatius center on March 15 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Appointments are required. They may be made by stopping by the center or calling on Tuesdays and Fridays.
The center will hold its annual spring rummage sale on April 5 through 9. Donations of good rummage sale items are being accepted. A silent auction will be held in May. Donation of quality items items for that auction are also being accepted.
The following are March activities at the center: March 3, quilters; March 4, chili and grilled cheese sandwich lunch; March 7, Wii bowling, 10 a.m.; March 8, salmon roll lunch; March 10 quilters.
Ronan
Well, we finally made it through February, nearly freezing in the process. Perhaps March will be a little better. One good thing about the snow and ice is that the potholes on Main Street aren’t quite as deep now.
There were 25 people at the card party on the 21st. Marlys Hoeldt had the high score, Bud Cheff had the low score and Joan Sampson had the most pinochles. Violet Hilfigure won the door prize and lunch was served by Marie Cowen.
The monthly board meeting will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 7, and the card party will be in Ronan that afternoon at 2 p.m.
The foot clinic will be held at the center on March 16 at 10:30 a.m. You don’t need an appointment as it is on a “first come” basis. We will be serving ham that day, so come on in, get your toes tweaked and join us for lunch. Eighty one hearty, hungry people joined us for our birthday dinner last Friday, to enjoy the music, visiting and food. We also served 19 meals to seniors at home, for a total of 100 meals.
We are still signing people up to have their taxes done, and Kaye will be here every Friday until April 8. Call us at 676-2371 (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) and we will get you set up with an appointment.
We have scheduled the AARP Defensive Driving Course (55 Alive) for Monday, April 18. There is still pleanty of time to make an appointment if you are interested.
Our menu for the following two weeks is: Wednesday (2nd) is BBQ pork ribs, Friday (4th) is turkey casserole, Monday (7th) is salisbury steak, Wednesday (9th) is taco soup, Thursday (10th) is chicken at 5 p.m., and Friday (11th) is chicken salad and tuna salad.

Dixon
Can you believe we made it through the long month of February, and in three weeks it will officially be spring? We deserve that!
While you’re waiting, drive over to Dixon Senior Center for our Fish Fry on Saturday, March 5. It will start at noon and last until two p.m. We’d like to see you there! We hope to play Bingo after the meal.
Long time resident of Dixon, Gene Pitts, and his family have been very prominent citizens of the reservation area for many years. He will be missed by many family members, friends, and neighbors. Our center was the site for his after-funeral dinner last Saturday, after the service which was held in Dixon School gym.
It takes a lot of coordination and loving effort to handle this kind of event, and all of those who participated are certainly appreciated.
Our regular meals are at noon on Thursdays and at 5 p.m. on Mondays. All ages are welcome.
The menu for the first half of March will be: Thurs. March 3, creamed chicken with rice; Monday March 7, ham/bean soup; Thursday, March 10, turkey and stuffing; Mon. March 14, macaroni and cheese; Thursday, March 17 corned beef and cabbage.
