Frederic Howard Varnum obituary

Born Sept. 27, 1919, in Jerome, Idaho and passed away Feb. 27 in Folsom, Calif.

He is survived by his wife of over 66 years, Dorothy (Miller), as well as daughters Kay (Jon) Nedrud, Carol (Tom) Peeples, Patricia Varnum (Robert Dodson), Peggy (Steven) Willis; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Additionally he is survived by brothers Cyrus (Jean), Walter, Charles (Shirley), John (Alice), sister Genevieve (Frank); plus several nieces and nephews.

He received his civil engineering degree from Montana State University in Bozeman. After being commissioned in the USNR, he served aboard several ships and participated in the invasion of the Philippines at Lingayen Gulf 1945.

He retired from the Bureau of Indian Affairs after over 30 years which included service on several Indian reservations in Montana and Utah and in the Sacramento-area office.

Memorial service was held on March 19 in Sacramento, Calif.
