There was only four of them, but they sure made things count. The Scarlets took second at the Superior Invitational last Saturday, scoring 109 points as every athlete placed in their five respective event.

Becca Nelson won three events for Arlee, taking first in the Javelin (109-6), the high jump (4-8) and the discus (92-2).

"That was Becca's farthest thrown in the javelin since her freshman year," Arlee head coach Rus Baker said. "Her height in the high jump was the best this year."

Arlee's Rachel Meidinger set a school record for the shot put during the Superior Invitational with a toss of 34-2, surpassing the previous record of 33-11 set some time in the 1980s.

"She'll probably break it again later this year," Baker said.

She also placed second in the discus (79-0) and fourth in the javelin (74-7). Her sister, Aspen, however, suffered a broken leg and will be out the rest of the year. She was throwing similar distances as Rachel.
