Have you been out and about to enjoy this nice weather?
Last Sunday, we took our grandsons and toured the National Bison Range, and it was just beautiful. The wild flowers were in bloom and we saw more animals (including a cinnamon bear) than we have ever seen there. We also got some up close and personal time with the buffalo, as they were blocking the road and were not inclined to get out of our way. So, hop in your car (or somebody else’s) and take a tour of the valley. We have some of the most beautiful scenery here that you will ever see, and we should get out and enjoy it whenever we can.
Just a reminder to let you know that we will be closed on Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day. Please take a moment and remember all of those have fought so hard to keep our country free. Without their sacrifices, we would not be enjoying our freedoms today.
There were 24 people who attended the card party on the 16th. Ray Salomon had high score, Darlene Salomon had low score, most pinochles went to Marlys Heoldt, the door prize was won by Bob Cook, and lunch was served by Grace Ingraham and Grace Sager. The next card party in Ronan will be here at the center on Monday, June 20, at 7 p.m.
The next monthly board meeting will be on Monday, June 6 at 10 a.m., and the next foot clinic will be here on Wednesday, June 22 from 10:30 until noon.
On Thursday, June 9 the veteran’s rep will be here from 1 until 3 in the afternoon, and we will be having our pork roast dinner that evening at 5 p.m.
Our menu for the following week is: Fri. (27th) is roast beef for birthday dinner, Mon. (30th) we are closed, Wed. (June 1st) is sausage and sauerkraut, and Fri. (June 3rd) is chicken. Come in and join us for a great meal, and bring a guest with you. With the exception of the Thursday night meal, we serve at 12 noon. We have bingo following lunch on Mondays and Fridays, and there is usually someone here to play pool with.
Have a great week.
Dixon
Did we all appreciate the taste of comfortable summer weather last week? I, and probably anyone who does anything outdoors, surely was glad to have an opportunity to get our gardening or recreating done! Now to sit back (ha!) and watch it all grow. Well, not all of it, but at least peas and potatoes are in. If I keep getting feebler, I may just let the farmers’ markets do my veggies.
One of the big events, not dependent on the weather, is graduation. Some very proud grandparents among our Dixon Seniors are: Jim Barnes, his grandson, David, (son of Karen McCullough) is graduating from high school in Charlo; Barbara Cripp, her granddaughter, Brittany, who also attended Charlo, is graduating from high school in Missoula. Cheyenne Cole, granddaughter of Sharon Cole and daughter of Boone and Mary Cole, will graduate from high school in Miissoula. The granddaughter of Martha Swonson is receiving her degree in pharmacy from the U of M. Also from U of M is Vic Charlo’s daughter, April, with a degree in educational leadership. Many congratulations to all the students, parents and grands! Can you remember when?
The Dixon Senior Center will be having another Fish Fry fundraiser on Saturday, June 4, from 5 until 7 p.m. If you missed the previous one, you’ll have another chance to eat some yummy Montana fish, and if you were here for the first one, you’ll surely want to come back. Bingo will follow.
There will be no meal on Memorial Day, Monday, May 30. Ham and scalloped potatoes will be served on Thursday, May 26. Come enjoy a delicious meal with us Mondays at 5 p.m. and lunch on Thursdays at noon.
It’s that time of year again...green grass means somebody has to keep it down! We could use some volunteers who would help with yard care this season—mowing, trimming...whatever it takes. Please contact the center.
