We are in need of containers with lids, such as Cool Whip, butter etc. If you have any extras laying around in your cupboards and want to get rid of them bring them on down to the center and we’ll gladly take them of your hands.
We would like to thank the Tire Depot for their donation of two tires that we needed. We appreciate the support of the local merchants. Thanks again.
Toenail clinic will be here on Nov. 9 at 10:30 a.m. Once again we have a list with only 10 slots available, so if you need to get your toenails done give me a call and I’ll put you on the list. Once all 10 are filled, I’ll have to put you on a waiting list so it is definitely first called, first on the list.
Shirley Parker has been doing some dusting and sprucing up around here and Julie Duncan painted our pantry shelves. Many thanks to you ladies, it really looks nice and we are very grateful for all your help.
AARP Driving Class will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 29. This class is for anyone and will be offered free to Veterans and their spouses. There is also a class free to the Veterans and spouses on Thursday, Nov. 3. The classes will start promptly at 9 a.m. If you are interested in the class on the 29th give us a call here at the center and we’ll get you signed up. The number is 883-4735.
The veterans aid will be here at the center on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to stop by and chat with her.
Just a reminder that if you are unable to come down and join us for the Community Thanksgiving Dinner here at the center, please give me a call and I’ll put you on the list for delivery that Thursday. We would love to bring you a nice meal.

Now, for some card scores. Bridge scores for Oct. 21 had Chuck Aker first and Dean Greiner second and for Oct. 25, Max Neeley was first and Ruth Baer was second. Pinochle scores for Oct. 27 were Ward Grilley first again this week and Duane Johnson second.

St. Ignatius
The St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center will serve its Thanksgiving dinner a little early this month. Turkey dinner with all the trimmings will be served on Wednesday, Nov. 16. The center will be closed on Friday, Nov. 25, the day after Thanksgiving.
An AARP driving course created especially for senior citizens will be held in the center on Thursday, Nov. 10. The course, which is free to veterans during November, is open of everyone. Veterans will need to present some sort of military or Legion or VFW identification. The class will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are no written or driving tests. Seniors who attend are entitled to a discount on their auto insurance. A signup sheet is posted in the center. Persons may also signup by calling the center, 745-4462.

The benefit pancake/waffle breakfast for Dave Arends last Saturday was a big success and the Arlee Senior Center would like to thank the community for its participation.
Thanks go to Rick’s Kustom Kut for the sausage links, Wilson Family Foods for the maple syrup and Chad Espinoza for the eggs. Also, thanks to all the seniors who donated other items for the event and for helping cook, serve and clean up. Dave received donations from newspaper readers as far away as Big Arm. Good job, everyone!
Meals for the first two weeks in November are: 11/2 – Polish sausage, kraut, oven potatoes, apple crisp; 11/4 – Goulash, garlic bread, mixed veggies, pineapple upside down cake, fruit; 11/7 – Roast beef, potatoes and gravy, salad, fruit, cake and ice cream; 11/9 – Italian chicken bake with spaghetti sauce, green salad, garlic bread, fruit crisp; 11/11 – Chili burgers, tater tots, green salad, fruit jello, cookies; 11/12 – Roast turkey, dressing, potatoes and gravy, yams cranberries, pumpkin bars; 11/14 – French dip sandwich, cottage cheese, fruit, relish tray, cookies; 11/16 – Sausage patties, biscuits and gravy, chilled tomatoes, banana pudding, cookies; 11/18 – Fish or alternate, fried potatoes, peas, fruit cobbler. All meals are served with milk, juice, coffee or iced tea.

We had 88 people come to our birthday dinner last Friday. There were several new faces in the crowd and we hope that you enjoyed your visit here and that you come in to join us again soon.
Congratulations to Don and Janet on your recent marriage. We hope that you have many happy years together.
To our seniors who are either in the hospital or homebound because of illness, we hope that you are soon feeling much better and able to join us again soon.
Don’t forget the COA’s dinner dance this Saturday, Nov. 8 at 5 p.m. They always serve a great chicken dinner with a dance to follow. There is also a silent auction going on. This is all a fundraiser for the COA to help support their senior programs throughout Lake County. The function is open to the public.
The veteran’s rep will be here on Thursday, Nov. 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. and our evening meal will be that same day at 5 p.m. We will be serving chicken and the meal is open to the public.
The foot clinic will be here on Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. There are only 10 slots available, so please call me at 676-2371 if you wish to sign up for it.
We will be having our Thanksgiving dinner at noon on Wednesday, Nov. 16. Please come on in for a great turkey dinner before you eat so much of it that you’re tired of it. We will be closed on Nov. 24 and 25 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Bingo is played on Mondays and Fridays following the meal and the pool table is always ready to be used.
Our menu for the following week is Wednesday, roast pork; Friday, tater tot casserole; Monday, salad bar; Wednesday, spaghetti; Thursday, chicken dinner at 5 p.m. and Friday, Brunswick stew. Have a great week, and remember, “If you can’t say something nice, please don’t say anything at all.”
