Masumola Club meets

The Masumola Club meeting will be held Thursday, Nov. 10, at the clubhouse. The social gathering begins at 5:45 p.m., potluck at 6:30 and program at 7. The program will feature musical entertainment by Cindy Elliott. The only requirement for new guests is to bring your own utensils and a dish to pass if you wish.

Valley View news

The monthly meeting for the Valley View Women’s club will be Thursday, Nov. 10. If you would like to attend, please call Kelly at 883-2910. The monthly potluck for Valley View will be Sunday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. at the clubhouse on 40762 Valley View Rd.

Bring your favorite pot luck dish and visit with friends and family, everyone is welcome.

Community dinner

There will be a free community friendship dinner provided at First Presbyterian Church, 301 4th Avenue East in Polson on Friday, Nov. 11, and the second Friday of each month, from 5 to 7 p.m. Bring your friends, all are welcome!

Christmas carnival

The St. Ignatius Chamber of Commerce Annual Christmas Carnival will take place on Dec. 4 from 2-4 p.m.

Afterward there will be the tree lighting, caroling, a hay ride and the Parade of Lights. The Parade of Lights is open to entries from everyone.

Pachyderm Club meets

Richard Erb will discuss the question, “Are the financial swells a prelude to a global financial wipeout?” at the Lake County Pachyderm Club on Friday, Nov. 11 at 12 p.m.

Social time begins at 11:30 a.m. and brown bag lunches are encouraged, with the meeting adjourning at 1 p.m. Erb will analyze why global financial markets have bobbed up and down the past few months in response to good and bad news from the European Union.

Polson winter sports

The winter sports parent meeting for Polson High School will be on Monday, Nov. 14 in the high school commons.

Any athlete that did not participate in a fall sport must attend with a parent at 7 p.m. All athletes along with a parent must attend at 7:30 p.m.

Arlee CDC

The Arlee Community Development Corporation will now be holding its monthly meetings the third Tuesday of each month at the Arlee High School business lab at 6 p.m. November’s meeting will be held on the 15th. The meeting is open to the public. For more information contact Kelley at 726-5550.

Facebook tutorial

Soroptimist International of Polson is sponsoring an evening class to help interested folks understand all the ins and outs of working with Facebook.

Joleen Barce will teach the class at the North Lake County Public Library meeting room starting at 6:30 on Tuesday, Nov. 15. This is a free program open to the public; everyone is invited. Bring your own laptop; the library is equipped with Wi-Fi access. Refreshments will be served.

Band festival

The second annual Mission Valley Band Festival is open to the public and will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ronan Performing Arts Center.

Bands from Lake County schools, as well as Bigfork and Thompson Falls, will perform Prelude and Primal Danse, Cartoon Symphony, Greenwillow Portrait and Cantury Walk and there will also be a percussion performance of Kuh Thunk.

Sharing dance

Come dance with a friend at “The Sharing Dance” on Wednesday, Nov. 16 from 7-10 p.m. at the Elks in Polson.

If you would like, also bring a food item to donate to the food bank. Heart to Heart will be playing tunes as people ballroom dance the night away.

Christmas giveaway

Dayton Park will host its annual Christmas give-a-way again this year.

The theme will be Disney fairy tales. Christmas tree set-up will take place at noon, Tuesday, Nov. 22 at the Idle Spur.

Thanksgiving feast

The Eighth Annual Ronan Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be on Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ronan Community Center.

Each year, the celebration draws several hundred residents, coming to share conversation, homemade pie and the chance to recognize the good that has come into their lives. If you can provide turkeys, pies or rolls or would like to assist with cooking, serving, bussing or entertainment, please call Dana Grant at 406-240-0640 or e-mail to grantdana@hotmail.com.

There is no charge for the dinner but financial donations are most welcomed and appreciated. They may be sent to the Ronan Community Volunteers at PO Box 751, Pablo, MT 59855.

LDS celebration

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Polson at 1104 4th Ave. East invites you to “The Savior of the World,” a celebration of the Birth of Jesus Christ, Saturday, Dec. 3 and Sunday, Dec. 4, from 2-8 p.m.

This celebration includes a Nativity Exhibit with over 200 nativities on display. If you’d like, bring your nativity to display as well! Family portraits are offered free of charge. From 6-7 p.m. on Dec. 4, a Christmas message featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir will be broadcast. Contact Nancy at 890-4595 for information.

Apps available

Applications are now available for Share the Spirit’s (STS) Holiday Assistance Program.

Families in Lake County who need help this year making the holiday season a bit brighter for their children are encouraged to swing by the Lake County Office of Public Assistance, Public Health Department, Doves, Working Innovations or Helping Hands to fill out an application. For 13 years, STS has been helping struggling families with toys, clothes and gifts during Christmas. The deadline for completed applications is Dec. 5.
