Friday, Nov. 11, citizens around the nation will recognize Veterans Day. The day gives people a special opportunity to acknowledge the efforts and sacrifices made by our bravest men and women who have served our country with honor, courage and loyalty.

In St. Ignatius and in Pablo, a pair of events are being held to allow people to say thank you for all that those people have done.

A ceremony will be held at the Veterans Wall by the Courthouse in St. Ignatius on Friday at 11 a.m. The event will host speakers and feature a 21-gun salute, to which the public is welcome to attend.

On Nov. 11-12, there will be the Warrior Society Powwow at the Joe McDonald Athletic Center on the campus of Salish Kootenai College.

The tribe, which has honored veterans for 15 years, will be celebrating the efforts of veterans, specifically Vietnam War vets, on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Camas Room. The ceremony will also feature speakers and honor over 230 tribal vets. There will also be a free dinner on Saturday Nov. 12 at 5 p.m. followed by grand entry at 7 p.m.

The public is encouraged to attend these events to recognize the sacrifices these individuals have made in serving the United States of America.
