NOXON - Charlo bounced back from its first loss of the season two weeks ago by winning two matches against Noxon and St. Regis in district play.

Last Tuesday, the Lady Vikings swept St. Regis 3-0 by scores of 25-13, 25-9 and 25-12 despite better play from the Lady Tigers than the last time these two teams met.

Senior Deondra Brown racked up nine kills while Kinley Pope, Rachel Hoyt and Dawn Blevins all had nine digs.

Charlo also looked good behind the service stripe with 13 aces, including six from junior Derika Stipe.

Against Noxon on Saturday, the Lady Vikings pulled out the 3-1 victory by splitting with the Lady Red Devils in the first two sets and then finishing up the final two games.

Charlo won 25-17 to begin things, and Noxon evened it up with a 25-23 second game win. Then the Lady Vikings pulled away with 25-16 and 25-18 victories.

Hoyt lead the team in three different statistical categories with 13 kills and 16 digs for Charlo, she also had an incredible nine service aces.

"Rachel was our big stat getter," Charlo head coach Sheryl Kain said. "She played really well and after the match she was like ‘there's no way I got that many kills.' She had a good match."

The Lady Vikings also had to overcome the long road trip to Noxon, along with adjusting to missing a starter in the game.

With the two victories, Charlo improved their record to 9-1. However, it doesn't get any easier for them from here on out.

"We need to be ready for every game," Kain said. "We have a pretty tough slate coming up."

Charlo hosts Seeley on Friday, plays in the Arlee Tournament over the weekend, then faces Hot Springs, Thompson Falls and Mission next week.
