Kids’ Safety Day

Harvest dinner

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church will hold its annual harvest dinner of Swedish meatballs, potatoes and gravy, lefse, salad and pie on Thursday, Oct. 20 from 4-7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall. Proceeds from the dinner will benefit Share the Spirit and the Polson Food Pantry.

Business meeting

Fort Connah will be hosting a general business meeting open to the public at Ninepipes Lodge on Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. They will be reviewing last year’s activities and planning for the upcoming year. For more information, call 381-0759 or 644-2877.

Paint pumpkins

First Interstate Bank in Polson will accept painted pumpkins on Monday Oct. 24 and Tuesday Oct. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. as part of the 2011 Pumpkin Painting Contest put on by the Polson Business Community. Voting takes place on the following Wednesday and Thursday for painted pumpkins (no carved submissions will be accepted) in four separate age divisions: 0-4, 5-9, 10-14 and 15-99 years old. Prizes will be awarded Friday, Oct. 28. Get your brushes ready, Polson!

Food donations

Members of the St. Ignatius Chapter of National Honor Society will be “trick-or-treating” for food to donate to the local food bank on Tuesday, Oct. 25. Members will be going door-to-door requesting donations of non-perishable food items. Collecting food for the local Food Pantry is an annual service project for the St. Ignatius High School students. If you live in an outlying area and would like to contribute, items may be dropped off at the high school.

Polson concert

The 2011 Fall Choral Concert will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. at the Polson High School auditorium, featuring choir students from both the middle and high schools. In addition to playing folk songs from around the world, the concert will recognize six Polson choir students for their participation in the 2011 Montana All-State Choir Festival. There is no charge for the event, though donations are always welcome.

Harvest festival

The Ronan PTA is hosting our annual Harvest Festival at K. William Harvey Elementary school on Oct. 27 from 5:30-7 p.m. This will be a great night of fun, games, food and prizes. Children are encouraged to wear their costumes and come enjoy a night with their family.

Fun run

Celebrate Red Ribbon Week and a healthy lifestyle with the Polson Pirates Monster Mash Fun Run on Saturday, Oct. 29. The one-mile and 5K fun run will be held at Linderman Elementary with races beginning at 10 a.m. Racers are encouraged to wear costumes. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the gym lobby. Stop by any Polson public school for a registration form and for more information, call 883-6229.

Sunday sing

The Fall Fifth Sunday Sing will be held at the Ronan Christian Church at 121 Third Avenue SW on Sunday, Oct. 30 at 6:30 p.m. An hour of heartfelt singing of hymns and solos will be followed up at 7:30 p.m. with a potluck dinner. Ham and roast beef will be provided, but bring your favorite potluck dish and come enjoy fellowship with good friends and neighbors!

Trunk or treat

“Trunk or Treat,” a tailgating Halloween event, will take place at the Mission Valley United Methodist Church at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31. The free event will show “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown” and serve treats and nacho snacks. The event will be over around 7:15 p.m., allowing kids to be home early on a school night. It will be fun and a different approach to Halloween. Come join us!

Pumpkin patch bash

The Pumpkin Patch Bash will be held at the Polson High School gym from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 31, sponsored by New Life Christian Center. The free carnival designed for children grades 6 and under will have a dinner, as well as games, candy and giveaways for the kids. Don’t miss this amazing annual event. Ronan concert

The Annual Fall All-Choral Concert featuring five choirs will take place Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Ronan Performing Arts Center. The select/show choir, concert choir and Ronan’s sixth, seventh and eighth grade choirs will be performing several selections, as well as several styles of songs. It’s the only concert of the year in which high schoolers and middle schoolers perform together, so come to this free event!

Quilters meet

Those interested in quilting are invited to attend the Mission Mountain Quilt Guild monthly meeting at the Ronan Alliance Church on Terrace Lake Road on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. A panel of quilters will be on hand for a question-and-answer session. We have started a six block sampler and there is still room for more ladies to participate, so come on down!

Thanksgiving dinner

The Eighth Annual Ronan Community Thanksgiving Dinner will be held on Nov. 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Ronan Community Center. Hundreds of people flock down to enjoy good food, music and company. Be one of them! Volunteers are also needed to help with the event.
