Christian “Slash” Haynes scores five touchdowns in 72-24 win

over Seeley-Swan

SEELEY - This just in, Arlee's offense can score points. A lot of points.

Playing against conference foe Seeley-Swan on the road last Friday, Arlee looked like the greatest show on turf and put up a 72-24 victory behind a Barry Sanders-eque performance by Christian Haynes.

"He played everything for us - running back, wide receiver, end," Arlee head coach Mike Rogers said. "You can put him anywhere and he'll continue to excel and push."

Haynes scored five touchdowns, four of them coming on the ground. Haynes scored on Arlee's first play from scrimmage, a 42-yard pass that he caught from Cody Sheridan. The Warriors put up 34 points against Seeley-Swan in the first quarter thanks to Sheridan's touchdown pass, three of his rushing touchdowns and a four-yard score by senior running back Zach Tameler.

In the second quarter, senior Logan Lefler scored on an 8 yard run to make it 40-0 Warriors. Seeley-Swan answered back with a touchdown and a two-point conversion, but Arlee would go into halftime with a 48-8 halftime lead thanks to anther Haynes rushing touchdown from 23 yards out.

Seeley-Swan came out and scored the first two touchdowns in the second half, but the Warriors bounced back with a Lefler 24-yard run for a touchdown, a Tameler 11-yard running strike in the end zone and a 2-yard touchdown run by Kyler Clinkenbeard, his first varsity touchdown.

PJ Haynes scored on the two-point conversion of that touchdown, his first points as a varsity football player. Arlee improved to 3-5 on the season and have won their past two games.

"The team has really focused," Rogers said. "They came out and practiced hard, and they really want to finish the season having gone 3-0."

The Warriors will host Victor this Friday for senior night.

"In those games you still feel like you got something to prove to yourself more than anything," Rogers said of senior night. "Sometimes it can be as big homecoming."

Victor is currently 4-4 on the season.

"They're a good football team and their record does not indicate how tough they are," Rogers said. "They run the spread option offense and their quarterback can throw the ball and run the ball, so he's a dual threat."
