Volleyball: Maidens fall to Loyola, Florence

against stiff competition.
RONAN - Several players filled the stat sheet this week for the Ronan Maidens volleyball team, but they dropped a pair of matches against stiff competition.
On Tuesday, Oct. 11, Loyola knocked off the Maidens 25-8, 25-17, 25-11. Alaina Madsen led Ronan with nine of the team's 27 digs, Bethany Colman added a pair of blocks and Darian Blixt-Leo a pair of aces in the loss.
"The ladies did well against Loyola and played hard," head coach Naomi Mock said. There wasn't a specific person I would like to point out, we had a team effort."
Lindsay Clairmont and Ashleigh Lynch each added two kills and Whisper Ivins notched five assists in the match.
Four days later, the Maidens fell to a tough Florence team 25-11, 25-13, 25-8. Blixt-Leo led Ronan with three kills, and Clairmont contributed seven digs, while Colman added Ronan's only block, ace and half of their six assists. While the Maidens are still trying to put together a complete game, they do have time left in the season. This week, Ronan has two matchups lined up.
On Thursday, Oct. 20, the Maidens host Arlee before hitting the road on Saturday, Oct. 22 for a match against Deer Lodge. Coach Mock still has faith that her girls can find the win column before season's end.
"I hope and believe that we make it through this week with two wins and go in on the upswing so the ladies can get to see a couple more weekends of competition," Mock said.
