The Arlee Senior Center wants to remind the community to mark Saturday, Oct. 29 on their calendars.  Join fellow “Arleesians” at the center for a Pancake/Waffle Benefit Breakfast from 8-11 a.m. to help raise funds for Dave Arends, who recently lost his home and all his belongings in a fire.

Box 392, Arlee, MT  59821 (mark “donation to Dave” on the check) or drop off a check or cash on Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Saturday, Oct. 29 from 8-11 a.m.

Dixon

If you're reading this before Thursday afternoon, you still have time to join us after lunch on Oct. 27 to show support for bringing Bingo back to our center. We are hoping to have enough players to enjoy playing once again. Cards will be 15 cents. We will start about 1 p.m., every Thursday.

Our center has been the meeting place for two recent community meetings, with very good attendance. It's nice to see people of the Dixon area come together. The big issue these days is the possible closure of our post office. Stay tuned for the final decision.

If you're planning a holiday-season occasion, consider renting the senior center for your fun. It has a full kitchen, piano, and is roomy and warm — good for receptions, meetings, showers... call Marie Ardis at 246-8238 for details.

Our meals are open to all — a good place to bring the family or friends to Monday night dinners at 5 p.m. Let us cook a tasty meal and clean it up for you! Lunch is served at noon on Thursdays. Takeout meals are available.

Meals for the rest of October will be: Thursday, Oct. 27, ham dinner; Monday, Oct. 31, hot beef sandwiches. Our cook makes delicious homemade rolls with most meals.

Enjoy this changeable, but beautiful fall, with snow on our Missions.

St. Ignatius

An  AARP driving course created especially for senior citizens will be held in the St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center on Thursday, Nov. 10. The course, which is free to veterans during November, is open to everyone.

There is a charge to non-veterans to cover materials. Veterans will need to present some sort of military or Legion or VFW identification. The class will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There are no written or driving tests. Seniors who attend are entitled to a discount on their auto insurance. This lesson is the nation’s first and largest classroom refresher for motorists age 50 and older. A signup sheet is posted in the center. Persons may also sign up by calling the center, 745-4462.

The senior center is very grateful to the several people who have donated produce to the center this fall.

The following are senior center activities for the rest of October and early November: Oct. 27, quilters; Oct. 28, meatloaf and Halloween fun stuff lunch; Nov. 1, lunch; Nov. 2, baked chicken dinner, 5:30 p.m.; Nov. 3, quilters. Bingo is played after almost every lunch.
