Just a friendly reminder that your yearly dues are due on Sept. 1. If you are a member we really appreciate your support, and if you are not, and would like to join, come on in and have some lunch with us and take a look around. I’m sure you’ll like what you see. We would be glad to see you!

For those of you that are starting to harvest you gardens, if you have any surplus that you don’t know what to do with, please keep us in mind. We are always very grateful for any garden goodies that we get.

A few things that are coming up the first part of September are the veterans’ aid will be here on Thursday, Sept. 8, our board meeting will be on Friday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. and the Toe Nail Clinic will be on Wednesday, Sept. 14 starting at 10:30 a.m.

Once again, we would like to thank Jo for jumping in and helping us out during Wanda’s absence. I’m sure we are cutting into her fishing time but, she is always willing to help and we are very appreciative.

We will be closed on Labor Day Sept., 5 and will be open bright and early Tuesday, Sept. 6. So on that note, I’ll close for this week and we’ll talk again soon.

Now, for some card scores. Bridge scores for Aug. 19 had Bob Gorsuch first and Joe Woodworth second and for Aug. 23 Dean Greiner was first and Ruth Baer was second. Pinochle scores for Aug. 25 were Jan Kaschke first and Duane Johnson was second and Gracie Schumacher was the only one to get a pinochle. Way to play Gracie!

Luncheon menu: Thursday 9/1 roast pork, Friday 9/2 cheese burgers, Monday 9/5 closed, Tuesday 9/6 soft shell taco, Wednesday 9/7 baked ham.

Well, I was going to start off by making another comment about the weather, but decided that you already know what the weather is like, and that this information was more important.

If you receive an e-mail about 9-11, please don’t open it, even if it is from someone that you know. It quite possibly contains a virus or mal-ware that will damage your hard drive. And as we all know, fixing a computer is frustrating, difficult, time consuming and expensive. (Actually, that also describes a computer that is working right).

Last Friday was our birthday dinner, and we had 65 people join us for a great meal and some wonderful music. A big thanks to the band that comes in each month to entertain us. You do a great job.

The center and the COA are having a rummage sale, on the 8th and 9th of September, here in the parking lot at the center. If you have something to donate to this fund raiser, please bring it into the center, or call 676-2371 or 676-2367 if you need someone to pick it up for you. Just think, if you donate to the sale, you then have room in your home to come to the sale and buy stuff from us. (That is “yard-sale” logic).

Our next evening meal will be on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 5, and we will be serving chicken. The veterans rep will be here from 1 until 3 that afternoon.

We will be closed on Monday, Sept. 5 for the Labor Day weekend, and so our board meeting will not be until the following Monday, the 12th.

The next card game in Ronan is on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m., and the next foot clinic will be on Sept. 21, from 10:30 until noon.

Our menu for the following week is: Wednesday (31st) pork chops, Friday (2nd) is baked potato bar, Monday (5th) we are closed, Wednesday (7th) is Polish sausage, Thursday (8th) is chicken at 5:30, and Friday (9th) is taco soup.

Have a great week, and if you need something to do, go to Polson and take the lake cruise on the Shadow. We did, and it was great.
