Neila I. Obenchain

Neila I. Obenchain, 77, of Ronan, passed away April 15, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

Neila was born on July 22, 1934 in Cottage Grove, Ore. to Frank and Geneva Richardson. She attended schools in Cottage Grove and graduated from Cottage Grove High School. She went on to attend Boise Bible College.

She met Duane “Dewey” Obenchain while in Boise. They were married on June 5, 1954 in Cottage Grove, Ore. They lived in Boise, Idaho from 1954 to 1955 and then moved to Glide, Ore. where they resided from 1955-1958, then to Ronan from 1958-1969, then to Spokane, Wash. until 1972, Colfax, Wash. until 1978, then to Boise, Idaho until 1980.

They moved to Weiser, Idaho until 1983, then to Idaho Falls, Idaho and back to Ronan in 1987. Neila had her own business called Mountain Shadows Country Crafts and had previously worked at Mission Valley Office Equipment and also as a monitor for the Ronan Schools.

Neila taught Sunday school, played piano and led choir at Dewey’s Churches and helped at the Kootenai Christian Service Camp at Lake Mary Ronan.

Neila is survived by her loving husband Duane “Dewey” Obenchain, two sons Dan (Maria) of Spokane Valley, Wash. and Greg (Cindy) of Denver, Colo., brothers Ken Richardson, Bob Richardson, and Dave Richardson all of Cottage Grove, Ore., sisters Betty Aubrey of Portland, Ore., Ethel Powers of Springfield, Ore., Naomi Harrison of Fallon, Nev., Kathy Cooper of Klamath Falls, Ore. and Penny VanOsdol of Pocatello, Idaho. Neila is also survived by four grandchildren, Rachel, Alexis, Taryn (Nic) Gronemeyer and Brittani.
