Pachyderms meet

Brian Campbell, longtime cherry grower on Finley Point, will be the featured speaker at the Friday, April 27 meeting of the Lake County Pachyderm Club. He will be speaking on new developments in the cherry industry that impact Montana, particularly the local economy. The club meets in the Rural Fire Department building on Airport Road. The meeting begins at noon and adjourns at 1 with a social time preceding the meeting at 11:30. Brown bag lunches are encouraged.

Spring sing

The Ronan Christian Church will host a “Spring Sing” on April 29 at 6:30 p.m. at 121 Third Street West. There will be an hour of singing, followed by a potluck dinner and fellowship. All are welcome; please bring your favorite potluck dish or dessert.

PSB forum

A forum for running school board members will be held on Tuesday, May 1 at 6 p.m. in the Polson High School auditorium. Hosted by the Salishian and mediated by staff members Megan Pope and Sharidan Russell, the forum is an opportunity for community members to ask hopeful school board members their opinions on important issues. There will also be a box in the main office of each Polson public school meant for questions of people unable to attend.

Quilt guild

The monthly Mission Mountain Quilt Guild meeting will be May 1 at 7 p.m. at the CMAlliance Church east of Ronan. Jesse Merwyn will be teaching people how to make super cute jean aprons. May is also the month for election of next year’s officers. For more information, contact Donna at 676-4126.

Salish Point meets

The next Salish Point meeting will be at 8 a.m., Thursday May 3 in Tom’s conference room. We will discuss permitting and fundraising.

At 9, all those who are interested will then go to the Lake County commissioner’s office where we have reserved a one-hour session with all three commissioners present to discuss our issues. We look forward to seeing you at this important meeting.

Fort Connah

The Fort Connah Restoration Society Open House/Rendezvous is coming up May 5-6. Early setup is on Thursday, May 3. The gates will open at noon on Wednesday, May 2 for campers and vendors. Call Scott Cameron (406-381-0759) or Penrod Davis (406-207-1266) for more information.

Preparedness fair

Bigfork’s first annual Flathead Valley Preparedness Fair will be on May 5 from 10-4 at Bigfork Elementary School. Topics covered include how to prepare for the economic rise in inflation, learning what to do in the event of an earthquake or flood and more.

Spay/neuter clinic

The Lake County Spay/Neuter Task Force will host the Brian Anderson Memorial Spay/Neuter Clinic in Ronan on Saturday and Sunday, May 12-13. For a reservation, please call 824-SPAY (7729) from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.

Softball tryouts

Ronan girls fast pitch will hold tryouts for the summer All Star teams on May 21-22. The 10U and 12U tryouts will be at the Ronan Lagoons at 5:30 and 14U will be at the Maiden Field at 6. For more information, contact Ambree Blixt at 253-2153 or Ted Madden at 676-8349.

DAR meets

Do you have the desire to find your American Revolution Patriot or participate in the many avenues offered through National Society Daughters of the American Revolution?

Community showcase

The St. Ignatius Schools will host the annual community showcase on April 26, with the emphasis on the Graduation Matters Montana program being instituted in St. Ignatius. The evening begins with a complimentary spaghetti feed from 5-6:30 p.m. in the elementary school multi-purpose room, with a wide variety of displays, activities and presentations running from 4:30-7 p.m in locations throughout the elementary, middle and high schools. Denise Juneau, Montana Superintendent of Schools, will also make a presentation.

Big Arm potluck

The Big Arm Association is holding its monthly potluck on April 27 at 6 p.m. in the historic school. Please bring your favorite food and your friends. After the potluck our guest speaker will be Dr. E B Eiselein to talk about Montana’s Indian history pre-1805. Dr. Eiselein has written over 20 books about Indian culture, history and spirituality. Please come to this very informative and enjoyable presentation and while there, look at the improvements to our school. We look forward to seeing you.

Golden Loon

Over 100 K-6 Ronan and Pablo students will perform “Indy and Anna Jones and the Golden Loon” in the Ronan Performing Arts Center on April 27-28. It promises to be a swashbuckling story of treasure seeking, special effects and clever twists that will keep young and old entertained from start to finish. Lots of action, fun and frolic for the entire family.
