FRENCHTOWN – The Ronan-St. Ignatius girls scored 201 points to win the Frenchtown TNT Invitational thanks to multiple placers in multiple events last Saturday.
“It was exciting to see them perform so well,” Ronan-St. Ignatius head coach Crystal Pitts said. “Some of the girls really stepped up.The field events continue to shine the most. Jocelyn Stevens had a good day.”
In the discus, Jocelyn Stevens was second (75-00). Jenny Larsson was second in the javelin (91-10), followed by Raymi Clairmont in third (82-9). The team had a multitude of first-place finishers at the meet. Ashley Courville won the 3,200-meter (13:25), while Stephanie Lewandowski won the 100-meter hurdles (17.50).
Twyla Hogge placed first in the discus (83-3) and shot put (31-08).
“Twyla is getting more and more confidence, which shows in her shot put and discus,” Pitts said.
Lewandowski was also second in the high jump (4-10) and long jump (14-4.5). Larsson was third (4-10) in the high jump. Also in the jumps, Kaylie Durglo was third in the triple jump (30-9).
In the sprint races, Kiana Howell placed fourth in the 100-meter dash(14.10) and 200-meter (28.70). Courtney Clairmont was second in the 800-meter race (2:34.40).
“Stephanie and Kaylie are improving in the hurdles every time they run them,” Pitts said.
In distance races, Jade Grey was third in the 1,600-meter race (6:08) and second in the 3,200-meter (13:55.30). Rose Bear Don’t Walk was third in the 3,200-meter race (14:22.00). Kaylie Durglo was third in the 100-meter hurdles (19.50) and fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (54.10).

“All the relays are still trying to get together and have had the same group two weeks in a row,” Pitt said. “That will help with handoffs.”
BOYS
Lucas Gerhardt continued to improve with javelin and again set a personal record (157-04) to place first at the TNT Invitational last Saturday.
“I told him he needs to try for more than a one-foot improvement at meets and he might surprise himself,” Pitts said.
Gerhardt went on to place third in the shot put (40-3) as well. Also tops for Ronan-St. Ignatius, Paden Alexander picked up another first-place finish in the 3,200-meter race (10:30) while Jalen Bell swept the long jump (20-11) and triple jump (42-5) with first-place finishes.
“Jalen’s long jump is starting to make some big jumps,” Pitts said. “He wants 21 feet bad.”
Bell was third in the high jump (5-8). In the 400-meter dash, Riley Dennis was second (54.0) and Paden Alexander also placed second in the 1,600-meter run (4:45.5). Connor Benn was third in the pole vault (9-6). Carston Baertsch placed seventh in the 200-meter race (24.30).
“Carston Baertsch is working into the 200 meters and showing a lot of promise,” Pitts said.
