Another week of spring, and yet more wonders to enjoy daily. I’m getting ready to move my bird feeding off the deck and onto the lawn — giving the soon-to-return hummingbirds center stage for summer entertaining. And lots less mess!
Notice that beautiful sight of the snowy Missions behind green pasture? Even the cheery dandelions are welcome (by some of us) as an early spring sign. Take a short trip to Dixon Senior Center and enjoy the scenery along the way.
The menu for the rest of April will be corned beef casserole on Thursday, April 26 and pork chops will be served Monday April 30. Bring the family for dinner, give Mom a break and no clean up!
Our monthly flea markets are continuing to be well-attended, with new vendors and shoppers each month. May 19 will be the next opportunity to join in. A good time to share, or pick up, some extra garden equipment. There will be plant life!

On Monday, April 30 we will be having a movie called Gold Diggers put on by the State of Montana concerning investment fraud. It will start at 11:30 and a free lunch will be provided to those that stay and watch the movie. This is an informative movie and deserves your attention. There are a lot of people out there that take advantage of seniors and any information you get from this movie makes you a wiser person. We hope to see you all there.
There won’t be a blood pressure clinic this month on the 27th as Shirley is going to be out of town, but she will be here in May. Also don’t forget that the 27th is our birthday dinner. We hope to see you all there.
Not too much going on this week so, if you are out working in your yards don’t do too much too soon. Do a little at a time and do it safely! So until next week be good and think sunshine.

Well, May is just around the corner and the ladies in the COA office have been busy getting ready for the Ladies Luncheon on Saturday, the 5th. Please plan on joining us and help support the programs that the COA provides for seniors in Lake County. Tickets need to be purchased in advance. Call 676-2367 or 676-2368 for more information and to get your tickets. If you attended last year, you will remember what a wonderful time everyone had.
AARP will be having a 55-Alive Defensive Driving Course, here at the center, on Wednesday, May 30th. Call 676-2371 if you would like to sign up for this course. This is a very good refresher course for all people to take, as it reminds of of all the little things, about driving, that we have forgotten.
Our birthday dinner is this Friday (27th) at noon. Come on in and listen to the live band, visit with friends and enjoy a great meal. You won’t get a better meal for a better price anywhere.
The card players met here on the 15th, with 23 people present. Lunch was served by Grace Ingraham. Todd Mhyre had the high score, Deanna Balfour had the low score, Lynette Vance had the most pinochles, and the door prize was won by Verna Krantz. The next card game, at the Ronan Senior Center, will be on May 20.
Once again, we have several of our members out because of illness or injury. We wish them all a speedy recovery. Our condolences to the Obenchain family, on the passing last week of Neila. She was a very special lady, and all who knew her will greatly miss her.
