Annual Quilt Show 

The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will be holding its annual Quilt Show at the K. William Harvey Elementary Gym in Ronan this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, Aug. 2, 3, & 4.  Hours are from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.  Admission is free.  Jesse Merwyn and Pat Anderson are our featured quilters.  The theme this year is “Quilts of the American Civil War.”

 

Aquatic Center Open House 

Have you been to the site of the new Mission Valley Aquatic Center recently? Would you like to see firsthand the beautiful facility? Come on down to the site on Friday, Aug. 3 anytime from 5-8 p.m. and we can show you around! Mission Valley Aquatics is hosting an open house, we will be giving tours of the new facility and would like to encourage you to take part in the excitement surrounding this wonderful community project. Nature Talk

Whisper Camel-Means, a wildlife biologist from the CSKT, may not be able to tell us why the bear crossed the road, but she will tell us how he and his wildlife friends safely crossed Highway 93. The program will be held Friday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m. at the Polson Motorcoach and KOA Resort. Come for an educational hour on the deck. Please park by the fitness center.

 

Bumgarner Retirement Celebration

 A retirement celebration is planned for choral music teacher Mr. Chris Bumgarner on Aug. 4 at 4:00 in the Polson High School auditorium. An alumni choir of over 60 former students from Shelby and Polson are working on four songs to perform as Mr. “B.” directs his farewell concert.

 

2002 Class reunion

The Ronan Class of 2002 will be holding their 10-year reunion on Saturday, Aug. 4. The event will kick off at noon at the North Crow Club House on North Foothills Drive in Ronan. It will be a potluck style gathering. Please bring your own food to grill, and your favorite potluck dish and beverage. Grills will be available for use. Plates and condiments will also be available. 1952 Class Reunion

In honor of the 60th anniversary of the Ronan High School graduating Class of 1952, there will be a reunion brunch Saturday morning, Aug. 4 from 9:30 a.m. until noon, at the home of Jim and Delores Rogers at 52959 Ninepipe Road, Charlo. Also, the group will again get together around 6 p.m. for a social time before the dinner which will be at 7 p.m. at the Charlo Senior Center. Friends and family of the class members are invited to drop by to visit at both of these gatherings.

 

Class of 1962 reunion

The Polson High School Class of 1962 will be holding a class reunion on Aug. 4, 2012 at the Kwa Taq Nuk Resort in Polson. All friends and family members of the class are invited to the Kwa Taq Nuk to socialize with the class following the dinner at approximately 8 p.m. For more information contact Tom Farrell at 849-5609.

 

4 Wheel Drive enthusiasts meet

 4 wheel drive enthusiasts and those interested in family-oriented outdoor recreation using 4x4 vehicles are invited to the Skyliners 4-Wheel Drive Club meetings and trail rides. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month at the Polson VFW, at 7:00 p.m. Our next meeting is Aug. 7. For more information, call 270-5423.

 

Back Country Horsemen Meet

 The August meeting of the Mission Valley Back Country Horsemen will be Tuesday, Aug. 7 at 7:30 p.m., at the V FW Hall on Round Butte Road, Ronan. We will have a short meeting, then a great program, presented by The Lewis & Clark Ranger District.  In 2011 it was decided to reconstruct the Gates Park Bridge, located in the Scapegoat Wilderness. Because this is in Wilderness, no motorized equipment is to be used. The program shows how the Bridge was repaired with this in mind.  This is a great presentation, hope to see you there.

 

Vacation Bible School

“Going for the Gold” vacation bible school will be from Aug. 6-10 at the Polson Foursquare Church. There will be soccer, art and a cheer camp for students between 9 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday. Cruisen By the Bay

Catch the classic cars cruise through the area beginning at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 10. The cruise will cover outlying areas, scenic drive, a parade down Main Street at 6:30, and end at Riverside Park. A free concert will commence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Riverside Park, featuring Andre Floyd & The Mood Iguana. Cars will be parked on Main Street for viewing starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 11, and the awards ceremony will commence at 3 p.m. with a parade of winners. Saturday night’s free concert features the Bop-A-Dips, performing from 7 to 10 p.m. at Riverside Park.

The Polson High School Class of 1992 will be celebrating its 20-year reunion on Aug. 10-12. To register and get more details go to www.websiteobjective.com. Boys and Girls Club Concert

The Bus Driver Tour group will be playing jug, ragtime, folk, and bluegrass music Aug. 8 at Ronan City Park. Bring the family and a picnic supper. Concert starts at 7 p.m.
