It is that great time of year when fresh fruit and produce are available in the markets, if not in your garden.

Betty Wetzel was happy to bring her visiting grandson to join us for lunch recently. Stephen Wetzel lives in Salt Lake City. Though not yet ready to enjoy meals with us, we’ve enjoyed visits from Delene Tufly’s endearing granddaughter, who’s just 10 months old! All ages are welcome at our center--it’s not just for seniors.   Coming up this month will be:

Thurs.   Aug 2  Elk roast

Mon.Aug 6   Chicken stir-fry

Thurs.   Aug 9   Hamburger stew

Mon.     Aug 13  Chicken enchiladas

Please note--beginning August 6 the Monday meals will be served starting at six o’clock, instead of at five, until Daylight Savings Time changes in the fall.

The pinochle scores for July in Dixon were:  Peggy Johnson had the highest score, the low scorer was Sharon Guenzler. Anita Serbert had the most double pinochles, and Jim Barnes took home the door prize. A  hearty “Thank You” again, to Joyce Siers for managing the pinochle party each month.
