Polson woman sentenced in check cashing scheme

POLSON — A Polson woman was found guilty  of issuing a bad check, common scheme, a felony. 

According to court documents Anna Williams  issued 16 bad checks to 5 different merchants in Lake County  between June 2010 and May 2011. 

The defendant, as part of a common scheme, issued checks upon three depositories, Eagle Bank, 1st Citizen Bank and Community Bank, knowing that they would not be paid by the depository, according to court documents all three checking accounts belonged to the defendant. 

The County Attorney’s Office sent written notice of nonpayment to the defendant. The defendant failed to make the checks good or otherwise make arrangements for repayment. 

The court ordered the defendant to pay restitution and is sentenced to a three year suspended sentence.
