NOXON — The Lady Vikings came into their two most recent games looking to generate more offense, and did precisely that by outscoring their conference opponents 123-45.
Charlo (4-1, 2-1) cruised to a 77-27 win over Two Eagle River School last Thursday before pounding Noxon 46-18 on Friday.
Against the Eagles, the Lady Vikings got out to an incredible start, scoring 21 points in the first quarter while allowing just nine to Two Eagle.
They would keep that pace, scoring over 20 points in both of the next two quarters, before finally letting up in the fourth, when they scored 10 points.
Charlo’s impressive offensive outpouring was fed by a trio of big-time individual performances.
The biggest of these performances came from Aspen Runkel, who exploded for 25 points in the game to lead all players on the night.
Haley Berkram, meanwhile, dropped 17 points against the Eagles, including nine off of 3-pointers.
Rachel Hoyt continues to be a top performer for the Lady Vikings, scoring 16 points on this occasion.
Abby knight (seven), McKalistar Rosenbaum (six), Jordan Ludeman (four) and Sienna Brown (two) also chipped in points during Charlo’s big win.
Two Eagle was led by a solid performance from Daryl Conko-Camel, who scored 14 points in the game. Tyra Michel (five), Ashley Lozeau (three), Ida Couture (three) and Ruby Saluskin (two) also scored for the Eagles.
On Friday against Noxon, the Lady Vikings came out of the first quarter with just a 12-9 lead.
However, they would allow the Lady Red Devils to score just nine points over the final three quarters while scoring 34 points themselves.
Leading the way in Charlo’s blowout victory was Hoyt, who again scored in the double-figures with 17 points on the night.
Ludeman and Runkel both scored nine points in the matchup, while Brown and Berkram notched four points apiece. Derika Stipe (two) and Knight (one) both scored as well for the Lady Vikings.
Noxon had just one player score more than four points in the contest, Brooke Smithborne, who tallied 11.
Charlo will take a break for the holidays before picking things back up on Jan. 3 when it hosts Superior.
BOYS
NOXON — The Vikings split a pair of games this past week, powering past Two Eagle River School 80-58 last Thursday before falling to Noxon 57-46 on Friday.
Two Eagle performed well last Thursday, having three players reach double-digit scoring totals, but Charlo performed better with 10 different players sinking at least one basket.
The Vikings scored over 20 points in all but the third quarter, when they dropped 13.
Kail Pope topped the team with an 18-point outing, but Webb O’Neill was right behind him with 17 points.
Tristan Santee also scored in the double-digits for Charlo with 12 points on the night.
Tra Ludeman, Michael Delaney and Kobe Cox each scored six points in the game, while Maverick Nelson (five), Tyler Delaney (four), Dalton Delaney (four) and Jade Smith (two) also put up points.
For the Eagles, Clay Malatare posted a game-high 23 points, while Byron Carpenter (18) and Jaylen Ducharme (13) also had big nights. However, only two other players would score in the game in Tyler Morigeau (two) and Chino Lira (two).
On Friday, the Vikings scored 35 points in the second half against Noxon, but only 11 in the first half, something their big second half performance would not be able to overcome.
O’Neill led the team this time around with 14 points, while Ludeman was right behind him with 12 points of his own.
Pope and Smith both chipped in six points apiece, while Tyler Delaney and Santee both posted four points.
The Red Devils, meanwhile, had a strong showing from Austin Tucker, who dropped 27 points in the game, while Oliver Grupenhoff added 15.
After the holiday break, Charlo will go on the road on Jan. 4 to take on Superior.
