CHARLO GB RECAP: Defeating Noxon

CHARLO - The Charlo Lady Vikings took it easy this week, with

just one contest on the schedule, yet they didn't let the lack of

game time affect them on the floor.

Deondra Brown scored a season-high 20 points and two other Lady

Vikings reached double figures as Charlo knocked off the Noxon Lady

Red Devils for the second time this season, 48-29 on Friday

night.

CHARLO - The Charlo Lady Vikings took it easy this week, with just one contest on the schedule, yet they didn't let the lack of game time affect them on the floor.

Deondra Brown scored a season-high 20 points and two other Lady Vikings reached double figures as Charlo knocked off the Noxon Lady Red Devils for the second time this season, 48-29 on Friday night.

Rachel Hoyt added 12 points and Jordan Ludeman 10 for the Lady Vikings, who turn an early 2-0 deficit into a 19-4 lead by the beginning stages of the second quarter thanks to three three-pointers by Brown in the first eight minutes.

"(Noxon) is a bit bigger and play a packed 2-3 zone," Charlo head coach Bret Thompson said. "If we hit outside shots, it would free up down low later and we did that."

Kinley Pope scored four points and Dawn Blevins two for the Lady Vikings in the victory, which pushed their record to 10-1 this season.

Charlo's press, and defense in general, was on point once again, forcing numerous turnovers and turning them into easy points, especially while taking a 23-14 halftime lead.

"There were only three plays all night on defense where I wasn't happy," Thompson said. "I thought things went really well."

The offense was run effectively by Ludeman, who has blossomed over the last month of the season. In addition to scoring in double digits for the third-consecutive game, she paced a team averaging nearly 53 points per game while holding opponents to just over 26.

"When she handles the ball, she frees up others offensively," Thompson said. "We've been waiting on it and since Christmas break, she's been filling that role, allowing more girls to become involved."

Charlo will host Superior and P'burg on Friday and Saturday respectively. Saturday's contest will be Senior Night for the Lady Vikings.
