ST. IGNATIUS - The Ronan Maidens' season came to an end on Tuesday, Feb. 14 in a 51-28 loss to the Mission Lady Bulldogs, but it was a year that saw the team improve across the board.

In Tuesday's defeat, Courtney Clairmont led Ronan's nine scorers with seven points and both Raymi Clairmont and Alaina Madsen added four. The Maidens hung around with the hot-shooting Lady Bulldogs early, trailing just 11-5 after the first and 25-12 at halftime, but Mission kept piling on out of the locker room, outscoring the Maidens 19-7 in the third to seal the deal.

"Mission had a great night shooting," Ronan head coach Clayton Curley said. "They had three girls step up and as a team, they outrebounded us."

It was the third meeting of the season between the teams, with the Lady Bulldogs edging out their Lake County rivals each time, though the games were all hard-fought. Curley said that seeing a team three times offers little in the way

of gaining an edge.

"It's tough to prepare," Curley said. "We know what they're going to do and who their shooters are and they know the same about us."

Ronan's four wins this season was a marked improvement from last year's total of one, and the reason for that was the development of Curley's squad.

"It's tough when you lose, but there are always positives," Curley said. "Four wins were more than any Ronan team in five years. We have a lot of girls coming back next year and we'll continue to make strides."
