BB Recap: Charlo Girls blow out P-Burg

SUPERIOR - It took six games, but somebody finally found a way to match up with the Charlo Lady Vikings. And while the Superior Lady Bobcats escaped with a win, the Lady Vikings are already eyeballing the Feb. 3 rematch.

Despite having three girls in double figures, Charlo fell for the first time all season in the meeting of unbeaten teams, 53-52 to Superior on Friday, Jan. 6.

Rachel Hoyt set the pace for the Lady Vikings (5-1) with 16 points, while both Dawn Blevins and Deondra Brown added 10.

In odd fashion, Charlo scored 13 points in all four quarters. Superior was very consistent in their scoring as well, scoring 12 and 14 in the first two quarters to knot the game at 26 at halftime. The Lady Vikings took a three point lead after three quarters, but the Lady Bobcats responded with 17 in the fourth to earn the victory.

Kinley Pope, with eight, Aspen Runkel, with five and Jordan Ludeman, with three, also tallied for Charlo.

The next night, the Lady Vikings got right back into the win column with a 59-30 blowout of Philipsburg.

Pope, with 14 and Hoyt, with 12, set the pace for Charlo, who raced out to a 40-11 halftime lead in the win.

Six other players got into the scoring action for the Lady Vikings (6-1), including Brown's nine, Blevins' seven and both Ludeman and Derika Stipe's, five apiece. Hayley Berkram notched four points and Runkel three as Charlo rebounded from its first defeat of the season in convincing fashion.

The Lady Vikings hosted Glacier on Tuesday, Jan. 10, but results were unavailable at press time. Charlo will also host Arlee on Friday and Hot Springs on Saturday as part of a busy week.
