ARLEE - The Scarlets are turning up the tempo and appear to have

things coming together. They picked up their third win of the

season against Victor on Thursday and played Charlo in a tough game

on Friday before falling in a close one.

"We pushed the ball a little harder, worked on the transition

game and we got a few easy baskets," Arlee head coach Richard

Bachmeier said. "In the half court offense we had a little more

patience."

ARLEE - The Scarlets are turning up the tempo and appear to have things coming together. They picked up their third win of the season against Victor on Thursday and played Charlo in a tough game on Friday before falling in a close one.

"We pushed the ball a little harder, worked on the transition game and we got a few easy baskets," Arlee head coach Richard Bachmeier said. "In the half court offense we had a little more patience."

Against Victor on Thursday, Arlee bounced back from a slow first quarter for a 21-point second stanza and led 24-20 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Scarlets finished the period with an 11-0 run and led 40-22 going into the fourth.

Arlee would win the game 53-39 thanks to 22 points by Mahalia Hendren and 11 from Whitney Malatare. Bachmeier again liked the play he saw from his bench, including seven points from Tayla Desjarlais.

"Tayla played ball like she's capable of," Bachmeier said.

Against Charlo on Friday, the Scarlets jumped out to a 14-9 lead in the first quarter before falling behind 29-23 at halftime. Things were close the rest of the way but the Lady Vikings pulled out the 55-44 victory.

"We missed a few shots that we could have made, it could have been a different result," Bachmeier said. "That was the best game we've played all season."

Malatare led the team with 14 points and Alexis Shick scored 11. Shick showed plenty of battle in both games this week, seemingly flying all over the court.

"She's an Energizer Bunny," Bachmeier said. "She likes to be moving all the time, she plays better that way."

Arlee now has a tough slate ahead with Mission, Superior and Hot Springs on the schedule for this week.

"That's a lot of games so you don't have a lot of time to prepare," Bachmeier said. "You could get one real day of practice in. We need to come out and play hard and aggressive like we did against Charlo with patience."
