CHARLO - The weather outside last week was indeed frightful, but the Charlo girls basketball team was delightful in its only matchup of the week.
Despite having a postponed game with Mission on Thursday, the Lady Vikings didn't miss a beat, squashing the visiting St. Regis Lady Tigers 55-13 on Saturday, Jan. 21.
Dawn Blevins scored 10 of her team-high 13 points in the opening quarter as Charlo (9-1) went on a 20-1 run after falling behind 2-0 early to end the first up 20-3. They continued that success in the second quarter, taking a 30-5 lead by halftime.
St. Regis scored four of the first five points when the teams came out of the locker room, but the Lady Vikings responded with a 16-1 run over the rest of the third and beginning of the fourth quarters to cap the rout.
Jordan Ludeman also reached double digits, the second time in three games she's done so, with 10 points, while Deondra Brown added nine and Rachel Hoyt eight for Charlo.
Sienna Brown saw extended playing time, scoring six points, while Haley Berkram contributed four and Aspen Runkel three for the Lady Vikings. Charlo's leading scorer, Kinley Pope, was held to two points, but is still averaging 11 points per game this season.
The Lady Vikings will again only have one game this week, hosting Noxon on Friday, Jan. 27. Earlier in the season, Charlo improved to 5-0 with a 41-23 victory at Noxon. Pope and Blevins led the way in that game, combining for 25 points in the win.
