Dixon
The weather forecasting was right this past week. I followed the snow storm (on TV) coming from the West Coast and just made it in time to get my pre-mounted studded tires put on, as the first flakes started falling. And they didn’t stop! Luckily I didn’t have to be anywhere for a few days, and I am well-supplied with necessities and things to do at home. I feebly swept a path to the bird feeders on my deck, as the flock was trying to hop on the snow-covered bird-feeding area with great difficulty. My winter entertainment was waiting! Now, if I can just get the garage door cleared of all the snow pushed against it when the plow came...
Do keep our monthly flea market in your mind as you inspect your home for goodies to get rid of. The next one will be the third Saturday of February, on the 18th. You can have your own table display or just come to browse and enjoy the lunch and dessert.
We are happy to welcome Joey Hettick’s dad, Jerry Halter, and his wife, Karen, as new members of the Dixon community and our senior center. They recently relocated from Polson, and brought a large amount of treasures to our first flea market. Come meet them at meal time — noon on Thursdays and Monday at 5 p.m. Our remaining meals for January will be: Thursday, Jan. 26 pork roast and Monday, Jan. 30 beef stew. Take some home for another quick meal!
At the last Dixon pinochle party Knight Web was the high scorer. Low was Grace Sager. Ray Solomon won the door prize and Don Siers had the most double pinochles. The group meets at Dixon on the fourth Monday of each month, at 1:30. Come for lunch and stay to play! Remember to pay your annual dues to help support our senior center. See Marie Ardis.
Ronan
With all of this wonderful winter weather, things have been a little slow around here. We did have 30 hearty people who showed up for lunch last Friday, and that is a lot more than I thought would be here. Thanks to all who made it.
I made a mistake on when the card party in Ronan was going to be, and for that I apologize. The next time they play here will be on Monday, Feb. 6, and then again on the 20th. Our birthday dinner will be at noon on Friday, Jan. 27 and we will be serving roast beef.
The COA is still in need of drivers for the Med-cars, so give them a call at 676-2368 if you can do some volunteer driving for them. They also want you to call them if you need a ride to an appointment, preferably a few days in advance.
We are still collecting aluminum cans, even though it is a little hard to get to the drop off right now. With so much snow, we sort of ran out of space to put it.
Our menu for the rest of the month: Wednesday (25th) is chili dogs; Friday (27th) is roast beef; Monday (30th) is taco casserole; Wednesday (Feb.1st) we will be serving pizza and on Friday (3rd) we will be serving barbecue meatballs.
Have a great week, enjoy the fluffy white sunshine and drive carefully.

The St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center will have a baked goods and candy sale on Valentines Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14, in the senior center. The sale will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations of goodies for the sale are gratefully accepted.
