After high school, she attended Kinman Business School and St. Luke’s nursing school in Spokane, and Montana State University. She picked cherries for two seasons on Flathead Lake.

On Dec. 27, 1946, she married John R. Davies and lived on their ranch in Round Butte. She was active with the Rainbow Girls and was mother advisor in 1949. She was a member of the Round Butte Rifle and Pistol Club and the Round Butte Pinochle Club. In 1952, her first son, Kirk, was born.

During this time, Margaret worked for the Forest Service, served on the Buffalo Hills Golf Course Board, was a member of the League of Women Voters, raised the two boys, and shot four hole-in-ones on the 12th hole of the Buffalo Hills Course. Margaret and John loved to go dancing and many a Friday night you would find them at the Elk’s Club, Blue Moon or other dance halls in the valley.
