Open burning permits canceled
FLATHEAD RESERVATION — All burning permits on the Flathead Reservation have been canceled as of July 2. None will be issued until further notice.
According to Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribal Division of Fire Chief Curtis Matt, fire indices have increased to moderate on the west, and high on the east side of the reservation.

On Saturday, there was an escaped campfire in the Jette area near Polson, and also a controlled burn in Hot Springs.
The Division of Fire has dispatched two crews to Whitehall, a camp crew to Colorado, two engines to Colorado, two to Arizona, a helicopter crew to Arizona and overhead in Colorado, Wyoming and throughout Montana.
Please remember to be careful this Fourth of July holiday with all campfires and fireworks. Keep campfires and fireworks away from dry vegetation.
