The card players met here last Monday, and there were 25 people present. Lunch was served by Darlene Salomon, Tod Mhyre had the high score, Grace Ingraham had the low score, Sharon Guenzler had the most pinochles, and the door prize was won by Bob Cook. They will meet here, at the RonanCenter, on August 20th.
Moe Schoon was elected the Senior of the Year, and there will be a dinner honoring him on Wed. Aug 15th. Please come and enjoy a great chicken dinner while we honor Moe for all of the volunteering he does.
There will be an “Accessories” sale here at the Center on Saturday, August 18th. The tables are $10.00 each, and you can reserve on by calling 676-2371 or 676-2367. This is a great way to get rid of you excess purses, shoes, belts, scarves, etc.
We will also be having a yard sale on Sept 6th and 7th, and would appericate any donations. Give is a call, and we will even pick them up for you.
Our menu for the rest of the month, and the first part of August is: Wed. (25th) Cheeseburger Macaroni Casserole, Fri.(27th) is our birthday dinner, and we will be serving a great roast beef dinner, Mon. (30th) is BBQ Beef on a Bun, Wed.(Aug 1st) is Potato bar with a variety of toppings, and Fri. (3rd) is Beef Tacos and Cinnamon Rolls.

The Council on Aging Transportation Department is desperately looking for volunteer drivers. If you are interested in this opportunity to meet a new friend and also lend a helping hand please give Judy or Jan a call at 676-2368. They will really appreciate hearing from you.
If you haven’t been in for a while be sure to stop by and see how beautiful our flowers are on the south side of the building. Kaye and Kelli are doing a great job with them. Also, we now have an automatic door opener on the south door for the convenience of our members. Be sure to stop by and give it a try.
There will be an AARP Driving Class, Tuesday August 21st 9:00 am. If you are interested please give me a call at 883-4735 and we’ll get you on the list.
Now for some card scores. Bridge for July 13th had Millie Mielke first and Jeanette Brown second and on July 17th Max Neeley was first and Bob Gorsuch took second. Pinochle on July 19th had Duane Johnson first and Alice Johnson was second.

Haven’t we been seriously entertained by the amazing electric storms lately! I wandered around by the light from the storm, trying to locate a flashlight ---how DARK it is without any house lights, except from my cell phone. A plus...I found out my apricots are getting ripe enough to enjoy, as I found many on the ground after a wild storm. It may be a long summer.
Plans are made for our seniors’ part in the coming Dixon Melon Day celebration in late August. We decided on the menu, prices and who’s doing what to get the dinner going. smoothly. Mr. Melon told me the crop of melons is doing nicely. So mark your calendar for Saturday, August 25 to be in Dixon!
Beginning the first Monday in August, our Monday night dinner will be served at 6 o’clock instead of at five. We will keep this time for the rest of Daylight Savings Time this year, then will follow the DST schedule . Meals for the rest of July will be : Thurs., July 25 Stuffed pork chops; Monday, July 30 Oven baked chicken and noodles. Join us at noon on Thursdays and at five o’clock for the next Monday meal. It’s a handy way to easily feed your summer company!

St. Ignatius
The St. Ignatius Senior Citizens Center thanks all of the many people that came to the Good Old Days breakfast. The following are senior center activities for the rest of July.
