Arlee/Jocko Valley Museum Summer Opening

The Arlee Historical Society opening of the Arlee/Jocko Valley Museum for the summer will be July 4th. The museum will be featuring displays on “Contemporary American Indians in Montana” and “Immigrants from Around the World” from the Montana Historical Society. There will be a special showing of the video “I’ll Ride that Horse” about Montana women bronc riders. The tribute to the people who served in the armed forces is still available, along with the old timers picture gallery and many other displays. Museum entry is free of charge and will be open at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Arlee 4th of July Parade

The 53rd Annual Arlee 4th of July Parade will honor the unique bravery of Jocko Valley veterans with the theme “Home of the Brave.” The parade will kick off at high noon and for the second year two F-15 fighter jets from the Great Falls Malmstrom Air Force Base will conduct a fly-over of the Arlee parade route. Parade categories are: Commercial, Clubs & Organizations, Indian Outfit group, adult, youth, Western Outfit group, adult, youth, Novelty group, adult, youth, small child, and Patriotic. The parade will go past the Arlee/Jocko Valley Museum where the entries will be judged, then continue through the streets of Arlee and finishing going north on Highway 93 and ending at the school. Registration for the parade will be held from 9 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the Arlee High School parking lot. For further information call Alvaretta Morin at 726-3167.

GPCF Grant Application Deadline

Don’t delay! To be considered for a 2012 grant from the Greater Polson Community Foundation, your application must be received by Monday, July 9. Skyliners 4-Wheel Drive Club Meets

Four-wheel drive enthusiasts and those interested in family-oriented outdoor recreation using 4x4 vehicles are invited to the Skyliners 4-Wheel Drive Club meetings and trail rides. We meet on the first Tuesday of the month at the Polson VFW at 7 p.m. Our next meeting is July 3. For more information, call 270-5423.

Ice Cream for Veterans

The Ronan VFW will be having cake, ice cream, and coffee for all veterans on Friday, June 29 at 1:30 p.m. We hope all veterans will join us!

Polson Rural Fire District Meets

The Polson Rural Fire District will be holding their monthly trustee meeting on Wednesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station. All residents of the Polson Rural Fire District and interested general public are encouraged to attend. Residents’ questions and ideas help to keep the trustees informed and assist them in formulating their decisions. Any member of the public wishing to submit items for Board review/consideration needs to submit them to the Board Clerk at least ten days in advance of the meeting. Free Activities for Children

Mission Valley Dance along with Family Matters will be providing free activities for children Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11 a.m. to noon at Riverside Park (weather permitting.) Exercise, dance, music and science projects will be available to all ages. Cherry Valley free lunch program will provide lunches as well. Children who consistently attend will receive free kids’ cones from The Cove. For more information call Julia Roberts at 249-0457.

Partners in Home Care Hospice focuses on improving the quality of life for patients and families faced with a life-limiting illness. Our Hospice Volunteers provide compassionate support in the Polson area. Duties may include visiting, listening, reading, running errands or office clerical assistance. Mission Mountain Rodeo

The Polson Mission Mountain Rodeo at the Polson Fairgrounds starts at 7 p.m. on both June 29-30. This event is a two-night action-packed pro rodeo in a beautiful setting at the Polson Fairgrounds arena. Immediately following the Friday Rodeo there will be live music by “Showdown.” The fairgrounds are located across the bridge on U.S. Highway 93 North and bordered by the Flathead River with spectacular views of the Mission Mountains and Flathead Lake. Youth events include Mutton Bustin’ and Miniature Bull Riding.

Murder at the Howard Johnson’s

The Port Polson Players will be presenting the hysterical comedy for adults, “Murder at the Howard Johnson’s,” on Saturday, June 30 through Sunday, July 15 at the John Dowdall Theatre. Sorry, no show on July 4. Curtain time Wednesday-Saturday is 8 p.m. and Sunday Matinee is 2 p.m.

Barbecue and Worship Concert

Cornerstone Faith Center is sponsoring a free barbecue and worship concert. The concert will feature Hilary Watson and will be held at the Good ‘Ol Days Field in St. Ignatius on July 11 at 6 p.m. For more information, please contact JP at 274-5013.

Cub Scouts Food Drive

Help the Cub Scouts of Pack 4947 feed our community! On the Fourth of July, the Cub Scouts will be collecting non-perishable canned food items for a food drive, find the scouts at the Fourth of July parade to donate. Questions? Call May at 883-9287.

Polson’s 4th of July Parade

Polson’s 4th of July Parade will begin at noon on Wednesday, July 4th.  This year’s parade has been organized by the Youth Committee of Envision Polson.  The parade will begin at Cherry Valley Elementary School on the corner of Main Street and 8th Avenue.  The route will be down (north) Main Street, turning right on 3rd Ave West, in front of Polson Hallmark.  The parade participants will continue to the parking lot at Linderman School for disassembly of the floats.

The parade will be kicked off by a fly over by 2 F-15C planes from the 120th Fighter Wing from Great Falls.  One pilot is Polson native Clay Bird.

Entry forms for the parade can be picked up at Polson Chamber of Commerce office, Big Sky Bistro and Community Bank.  Entry forms have to be completed and returned to the Chamber Office at 418 Main Street by July 3rd.  There will be ribbons awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as for the best Children’s entry.  Please have a simple sign on both sides of your float stating your business or family name.

After the parade there will be an ice cream social at the Polson Flathead Historical Museum at 708 Main Street.  Donations will be accepted.  Also, shortly before the parade a 1 Kilometer run will begin at 11:45 at St. Joseph Medical Center. Registration for the run opens at 11:15 and participants should wear red, white and blue.  The first family to finish gets free ice cream cones from the Cove.

Scottish Highland Dance Team Performing

The Miles City Caledonian Society is proud to present the Caledonian Dance Tour through the State of Montana.  The Dance Tour will be visiting Polson on Saturday, July 7, for a free public performance.  It will be held at North Lake County Public Library at 1:00 p.m. in the meeting room. The library is located at #2 First Avenue East in Polson.
