Lenten Studies

Lenten Studies began Feb. 29 and continue every Wednesday through March at the Polson Community Church, 1814 1st Street East, at 1 p.m. All are welcome.

Bingo for books

It is Bingo for Books time in Mission! Please join in the fun and play free bingo to win books, sponsored by the Montana Out of School (MOST) grant. Bring the family! It will be held at St. Ignatius Elementary School in the cafetorium on Thursday, March 1, from 5:30-7 p.m.

Republicans meet

The Lake County Republican Central Committee will meet on Thursday, March 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the Miracle of America Museum for a presentation by Lake County Commissioner Bill Barron, county attorney Mitch Young and Sheriff Jay Doyle. They will address current issues.

Flathead event

March 1, 2012 is the 200th anniversary of David Thompson’s sighting of Flathead Lake, the first documented sighting by a European. The Polson Flathead Historical Museum will commemorate this event at 6:30 p.m. on March 1 at the Polson Rural Fire Department located at 25 Regatta Road, parking and entry in the back.

President’s lecture

The next SKC President’s Lecture will be on Friday, March 2 from 12-1 p.m. at the Arlee/Charlo Theater on the SKC campus in Pablo. Professor Adrian Leighton will speak about “A Forest for the Trees: Forest Health and Management in a Climate of Change.”

VFW breakfast

Ronan VFW5652 holds a breakfast open to the public the first Saturday of every month. The next breakfast will be held March 3. For more information call 676-5652.

Blood drive

Ronan High School will be hosting its first annual Red Cross Blood Drive, open to the public, from 3-5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6. To schedule an appointment, contact Debbie Garcia at 676-3390 x3501 or Heather Holmlund at x3506.

Quilt meeting

The Mission Mountain Quilt Guild will be holding its regular meeting on March 6 at 7 p.m. at the Alliance Church east of Ronan. Education this time will be given by Char on organization of fabric and whatever, Part II. Please bring your block of the month and your show and tell, and don’t forget to be working on your challenge fabric projects. Everyone is welcome!

Community dance

The next community dance will be on Wednesday, March 7 from 7-10 p.m. at the Elk’s Club in Polson. It is a great success because of the support from everyone. The treats have turned out to be a hit, so keep those coming. Ken’s country combo is wonderful, and we are so lucky to have them.

Valley View meets

The Valley View women’s club monthly meeting will be Thursday, March 8. If you would like to attend please call Kelly Bailey 883-2910. The monthly potluck will be Sunday, March 11 at 5 p.m. at the Valley View Clubhouse 40762 Valley View Road, Janna Taylor will be our guest speaker.

Masumola club

The March meeting of the Masumola Club will be held on Thursday, March 8 and will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. A social hour, featuring the always-popular Shamrockers, will be held from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m., dinner at 6:30 with the Shamrockers continuing at 7.

Robotics night

The Ronan High School and Middle School will be hosting a Robotics Night on March 9 from 5-9 p.m. We will have robotics demonstrations, silent auction and a spaghetti dinner. After the dinner starting at 7, the RHS Drama Department will be presenting “Beauty and the Beast.” There is no cost for the robotics demonstrations.

PHS play

Twenty-one Polson High School students will be performing from March 9-11 in Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at Polson High School.

Donate bikes

We are looking for outgrown or unused bicycles in working condition that people would be willing to donate for our Community Earth Day and Walk and Roll Event that will be held on Saturday, April 21. We will be willing to pick them up or you can drop them off at the Ronan Tribal Fitness Center or the Maintenance Barn at SKC. Please call Jennifer at 676-0211 or Ronan Tribal Fitness at 676-0138.

Art contest

High school students are invited to submit their original artwork to Montana’s Congressional Art Competition for a chance to be displayed for a year in the halls of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. The competition is open to all students enrolled in a Montana high school or home-school equivalent. All submissions are due by Friday, April 27. More information can be found at http://rehberg.house.gov under the Art Competition heading in the Services tab.
