Valley View meets
The Valley View Women’s Club monthly meeting will be Thursday, March 8. If you would like to attend, please call Kelly Bailey at 883-2910. The monthly potluck will be Sunday, March 11 at 5 p.m. at the Valley View Clubhouse 40762 Valley View Road. Janna Taylor will be our guest speaker.
Pachyderm club
Bob Fulton, chairman of the city county planning board, will speak on “Polson City County Planning Board History, Current Makeup, Present and Future Challenges” at the Lake County Pachyderm Club meeting on Friday, March 9 in the meeting room of the Rural Fire Department building on Airport Road in Polson. There will be a social time for brown bag lunches at 11:30 a.m., with the meeting running from noon-1 p.m. Members and non-members are invited to attend.
Robotics night
The Ronan High School and Middle School will be hosting a Robotics Night on March 9 from 5-9 p.m. We will have robotics demonstrations, a silent auction and a spaghetti dinner. After the dinner starting at 7, the RHS Drama Department will be presenting “Beauty and the Beast.” There is no cost for the robotics demonstrations.
LCRW meet
The Lake County Republican Women will meet Monday, March 12 on the second floor of the CSKT Natural Resources Building at the corner of Third Avenue and Main Street, Polson. Social time begins at 11:30 a.m. with the business meeting beginning at noon. Brian Lipscomb, director of the Department of Energy for CSKT, will be the guest speaker and will be discussing the transfer of Kerr Dam to the tribes and its implications for the tribes and the reservation community. Anyone interested in learning more about this topic is invited to attend, whether or not you’re a member of LCRW.
Audubon program
“Island Birds and Biodiversity” by Dr. Chris Filardi will be the next Mission Mountain Audubon program on Tuesday, March 13 at 7 p.m. in the Polson Library meeting room. Thanks to the genomic revolution and increased access to islands, there’s a new age of island exploration, and the results are changing enduring ideas about island biology, island birds and their implications for life on Earth.
NARFE meets
The National Active and Retired Federal Employees (Mission Valley Chapter 1744) will meet on Wednesday, March 14 at 11:45 a.m. at the Polson Senior Center. Lunch will be available, followed by a program featuring Dennis Jones and his drug-sniffing dog and concluding with a brief business meeting. Everyone is welcome.
Leon Club meeting
The Leon Community Club invites friends and neighbors in the Mission Valley to meet at the Leon Clubhouse on Wednesday, March 14 at 5:30 p.m. for a potluck dinner, as well as a program featuring a guest from the Western Montana Growers Cooperative. The Leon Clubhouse is located between St. Ignatius and Ronan, one mile west of Highway 93 on Leon Road.
PRFD meets
The monthly Polson Rural Fire District Trustee meeting will be on Wednesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Station. Business will include updates on the citizen committee, ISO and DNRC truck, as well as election results.
Ghost out
St. Ignatius High School will be holding a Ghost Out, a drunk driving simulation, on Thursday, March 15. Emergency vehicles will be on site for the simulation at 2 p.m., which is preceded by a 1 p.m. assembly. For more information, contact Terri at 745-3811 x 221.
Thyme for herbs
The next Thyme for Herbs meeting will be on Saturday, March 17 at 10 a.m. in the North Lake County Public Library meeting room at 2 First Avenue East. Jude Hardesty will speak on the use of young living essential oils and their wide variety of uses. For more information, contact Jude at 270-6652.
Irish parade
The Ronan Irish Community will hold its 23rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ronan on Saturday, March 17 at 2:30 p.m. on Main Street.
Anyone can be Irish on St. Patrick’s Day and we look forward to as many floats, walkers and participants as we can get. Participants will line up west (behind) of the hospital at 2 p.m. If you have questions, contact Carlene at 676-0646 or Jenn at 676-0211.
Diabetes group
Polson Health and the diabetes program at Kalispell Regional Medical Center are hosting a new, free diabetes support group open to anyone diagnosed with diabetes. It meets at the Polson United Methodist Church monthly, with the next meeting on March 19 from noon-1 p.m. For more information, call Polson Health at 883-3200 or the Diabetes Care and Prevention Center at 751-5454.
Stations of the Cross
If you’ve been away from your faith or even if you just want to know what the Catholic Church teaches, you’re invited to join us for Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 6 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church. A soup supper and video series on Catholicism by Father Barrons will follow at 6:30. For more information, contact Ed at 883-2109.
Chess night
Bring your game – to Community Chess Nights Monday, March 12 and Monday, March 26 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church on 2nd St. West (across from Polson High School). Basic chess instructions and refreshers will be offered for those new to the game or those who are a little rusty. Free snacks, meal and beverages will be provided. All ages and all level of players are invited for a fun night of chess. Ages 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult or guardian. Please bring your game boards and your best strategies. A benefit account has been opened at Community Bank for Julie Berry who is experiencing a revisit with cancer.
