Wear your green and come join us for a great meal. We still have appointment openings for Kaye and Tom our AARP Tax Preparers. Hasn't this been an interesting weather week? Sunshine through the snowflakes! I'm digging through the leaf mulch, looking for spring signs emerging from the soil — no encouragement in my little part of the "banana belt" — even the pussy willows, which I've had in January some years, haven't been seen yet. Patience, patience, spring always comes!
Our cook, Diane, will be off duty for a bit, as she recovers from surgery. We are so fortunate to have experienced, creative help to prepare our meals for a while. The Dixon School students and some staff will treat us to the annual "Senior Appreciation Day" lunch and special entertainment. Be sure to come this Thursday at noon for this event.
The menu for the coming week will be: Thursday, March 8, special meal by Dixon School; Monday, March 12, pork chops; Thursday, March 15, corned beef and cabbage; Monday, March 19, turkey with sweet and sour sauce. All ages are welcome to join us at meals — Thursday noon and Mondays at five. Takeouts are available.
Our monthly flea market will be held on Saturday, March 17, so start digging out those treasures to share, and reserve your table. It looks like we may be buying more tables to keep up with the vendors! Call Delene at 246-3271 or Joey at 246-3526 for more information. Corned beef and cabbage,or Irish Stew, with soda bread, plus pie or cinnamon rolls will be available between your browsings.
Scores for the latest pinochle play was our own Don Siers with the high score, Ruby Mocabee was low scorer. These 90-plus-year-olds are a great example of keeping your mind active! Todd Myhre had the most double pinochles and the door prize belonged to Ray Solomon. Joyce Siers is getting new decks of cards, as the old ones are wearing out! Way to go, seniors!
