It has come to our attention that Jim Eichorn will be 100 years old on March 14. All of us here at the center would like to wish him a very “Happy Birthday!” and hope there are many more to come. Congratulations, Jim, on such a milestone!
Just got off the phone with Clara in Arizona and she will be teaching the next AARP Driving Class here at the center on Tuesday, April 24. The class will start promptly at 9 a.m. and will go to approximately 3 p.m. with an hour or more lunch break. If you are interested in this class give us a call at 883-4735 and we’ll get you on the list.
Jo Durand and Shirley Laisy are giving our dining room a new face-lift. They are going to paint the ceiling and do the walls with the help of their wonderful husbands Dean and Paul. So stop in and take a look. I know that you’ll like what you see!
I actually think that spring might be trying to get here. We have the tulips starting to make an appearance and the robins are hopping around, so get out and enjoy the sunshine and we’ll talk again soon. Have a great week.

Dixon
What a difference a week makes in the signs of spring! Happily, the pussy willows have popped out, the red-winged blackbirds, robins and other unidentifiable (to me) bird sounds are filling the air. Returning tenants are checking out the birdhouses... and finally I can see some signs of greenery pushing through the soil. It makes me appreciate living where there is such a difference in seasons.
Our seniors and guests were treated to the Dixon school grades 5-8 (with some staff) treating us to a ham dinner, entertainment by the younger children, and table decorations, for Senior Appreciation Day. We do appreciate that! Some of us do not have much exposure to youngsters in our lives, and it's nice to be able to see them in this setting.
Remember our monthly flea market this Saturday from 10-3. Since it's St. Patrick's Day, the lunch menu will be corned beef and cabbage, or Irish stew, plus pie or cinnamon rolls. Vendors can still reserve a table, just call Joey at 246-3526 or Delene at 246-3271. Check it out — you might find a treasure!
Meals are served on Mondays at five and at noon on Thursdays. The menu for the rest of the month will be: Thursday, March 15 corned beef and cabbage; Monday, March 19 turkey with sweet and sour sauce; Thursday, March 22 Polish sausages; Monday, March 26 ham; Thursday, March 27 sesame beef. All ages are welcome at meals. (We have highchairs).
Take a meal to a friend, or neighbor, family member who would appreciate it. Or bring the family to eat out. Remember to wear some visible green on Saturday!

Welcome to spring. How many of you are itching to get out in the yard and flower gardens to do some work? Not me! I can think of a lot more fun things to be doing outside.
There were 24 card players here on the 5th to play pinochle. Candace Cook had the high score, Todd Mhyre had the low score, Knight Weber had the most pinochles and the door prize was won by Marlys Hoeldt. Lunch was served by Ray Salomon. The next card party here at the Ronan Senior Center will be on the 19th. Come on in and join the fun.
Commodities will be out again this month, so the gals in the COA will be calling both the helpers and those getting them. The foot clinic will be on the 21st from 10:30 a.m. until noon. Give me a call at 676-2371, and I will get your name on the list. There are only 10 slots available, so call to make sure that you can get in.
We will be having a lunch (corn beef and cabbage) to celebrate St. Patrick's day on Wednesday, March 14. On April 4, we will be having our Easter dinner (ham). Both are at noon, and all are welcome to attend.
I got a e-mail today, and I am pretty sure that it was a scam. The real tip-off was that it was in Arabic. If you get an e-mail, or a phone call, requesting money or information, don't give it to them. If one of your "grandkids" (especially if they don't want their parents to know) contacts you about being in trouble, check with other family members to find out what is really going on. Also, don't give out any personal for financial information over the phone. If you get a suspicious e-mail, just delete it without opening it. You might just prevent yourself from getting a very expensive virus in your computer. It's too bad that we live in a world with people who are always trying to cheat others.
The COA will be having its Mother's luncheon again this year. I will fill you in on the date and time at a later time. It was such a wonderful get together for the ladies last year, and I'm sure that you won't want to miss it this year.
Our menu for the next week: Wednesday (14th) is corn beef and cabbage, Friday (16th) is salad bar, Monday (barbecue chicken, Wednesday (21st) is sausage and gravy, and Friday (23rd) is soup and sandwiches.
We have a set of keys for a Honda. They were found out in the street in front of the center last Thursday night (8th). If they are yours, stop in and collect them. Have a great week, and enjoy the great weather.
