PABLO – Ronan’s Edmond Dupuis’ tough runner in the lane with under a minute left stood as the game-winner as the Boys A Team hung on for a scintillating 66-65 win in the Mission Valley All-Star Game on Friday night.

With the teams jockeying for the lead all night, Dupuis’ runner answered a clutch, off-balance three-pointer by Chiefs’ teammate Marcus Hungerford, playing for Team B. Team B had a chance to win it, but Hot Springs’ Dave Cross just missed two free throws that could have won the game or forced overtime.

Bigfork’s Conner Coleman led all scorers with 14 points, while Lake County All-Stars Marcus Brown and Junior Sansavere put up 12 and 11 respectively for Team B. Dupuis led Lake County’s Team A All-Stars with 11.

Team B led 39-33 at halftime behind eight first-half points by Two Eagle River’s Brown. Arlee’s Sansavere scored six in the opening 16 minutes, but Team A would chip away.

That took a while, however, as Team B boosted their lead to 10 at 50-40 early in the second half. A 19-8 run by Team A allowed them to take their first lead of the game, but it would be short-lived. After that lead change, four more would take place in the waning minutes, giving the crowd a game to remember.

Charlo’s Stephen Delaney, held to just one rebound in the first half, exploded for eight points and eight rebounds in the second half, energizing his team despite just missing a pair of dunk attempts just seconds apart. Arlee’s PJ Haynes also electrified the crowd with several slick assists, finding teammates in traffic for easy buckets as part of the rally.
