Polson scores big at music fest
KALISPELL — Polson High School cleaned up at the District Music Festival in Kalispell April 12-14, taking home numerous awards for performances in several categories.
“This is a great opportunity for our students to work with experts who can share their wisdom and encourage them to become more musical,” high school choir director Chris Bumgarner said. “It is not a competition between different schools but between the student and the music.”
Polson’s concert and select choirs received superior ratings in sightreading, the students received 30 superior ratings on solo, duet and ensemble bases and 40 excellent ratings in the same categories.
“I was very pleased with the students’ efforts and preparation for the festival,” Bumgarner said. “The six adjudicators were very impressed and had many complimentary things to share with them.”
